Stour Barn finer details
Outside your holiday cottage in Suffolk you have a private, fully enclosed garden, with a fabulous ‘indoor outdoor’ room with a huge luxury Hot Tub as well as a patio with BBQ and table and chairs for Al Fresco dining.
The fully equipped kitchen is well laid out with ample work surface, a fitted cooker with ceramic hob, Belfast sink, microwave and fridge, kettle and four-slice toaster.
The main living area is spacious with a squishy, luxurious comfy sofa, lovely log-burning fire and Smart TV.
It has high vaulted ceilings throughout, with huge, exposed oak beams and just oozes rustic charm. The living area leads through to a ground floor bedroom with a black iron ‘bedknobs and broomsticks’ style double bed (please note it doesn’t fly).
There is a well-organised en-suite shower room with a good-sized powerful fixed rose ‘watering can’ style shower, loo and hand basin with luxury hand soap.
Stour Barn has cosy underfloor heating at no extra cost. We can provide logs for your wood-burning fire, which we offer at cost as your holiday cottage is already heated.
Dog owners
Because of our fully enclosed gardens we are happy to welcome dogs in all our luxury holiday Barns. We normally welcome up to three dogs. We even leave dog treats, as well as a delicious local breakfast basket for the humans!
We also have a huge fully secure two-acre meadow for our four-legged guests to run around and play with each other, along with seating for the two-legged guests to chat as well! There’s a smaller section inside for nervous or older dogs to exercise on their own.
There is ample off-road parking.
Hot-Tub Luxury in Suffolk
Stour Barn is a luxury holiday cottage in Suffolk; one of our five holiday cottage Barns in the secluded meadow beside The Granary, Woodfarm House and Meadow View Cottage.
The Barns nestle seamlessly into mature trees, with a Koi and Goldfish pond, and a waterfall feature to create a peaceful, intimate environment to relax and unwind in. As well as your own private, fully enclosed garden, there are landscaped grounds and a decked area overlooking the fish pond, which is a great spot to enjoy the sunset.
We are down a pretty country lane just outside the little Suffolk village of Stonham Aspal.
There are wonderful walks and cycling straight from the Barns and the stunning Suffolk Coast is just 30 minutes away. Bikes are also available free of charge, along with free WIFI.
Each of our holiday cottage Barns in Suffolk is unique in its decor, and we have a choice of ground-floor (like this one) and mezzanine or first-floor options. They are all traditional Suffolk barns in style with black weatherboarding, oak trusses and beams and floorboards or slate flooring. Woodfarm House and Meadow View Cottage are the two halves of our 500-year-old thatched Suffolk farmhouse. Again, both are completely private.
All our meadow Barns are named after nearby Suffolk rivers. The river Stour meanders through from far inland at Sudbury, through stunning ‘Constable Country’, past Dedham, East Bergholt and Manningtree and out to the sea.

More reasons to stay at Stour Barn
This lodge with a hot tub is fashioned in the classic coach house style. It features a double bed and en-suite bathroom with a fully enclosed garden attached to it. And, you guessed it, this garden includes a huge luxurious hot tub. What’s more, this ‘indoor-outdoor room’ is nicely complemented with outdoor ambient lighting to make the experience of taking a soak even more luxurious.
Hot tubs and sleep
In the UK, research has found that 36% of adults have trouble sleeping and getting to sleep on a weekly basis, with nearly 50% of the UK population having trouble getting to sleep at least once a month. Curiously, additional research has revealed that hot tubs help with insomnia because of how they help reduce stress. Many cases of insomnia relate to stress, and as we discussed earlier, hot tubs can help relieve problems with stress. With this in mind, it is suggested that spending some time in the hot tub before heading to bed will improve your chances of getting a good night’s sleep.
