Planning your perfect Suffolk break: The Bucket List #3

By

Planning a break in Suffolk should be effortless; that’s why we created The Bucket List. This free service provides curated itineraries, so you can unwind without the stress of planning.

For years, we have gathered the best ideas to make your Woodfarm stay unforgettable. Now, we have streamlined everything into easy-to-follow plans: because you deserve the best experience.

We have extensive guides covering Suffolk (and Tuscany), but The Bucket List packages everything into perfectly crafted day-out itineraries. Each plan highlights the best of Suffolk, bringing together must-visit places. We know the area inside and out; now you can explore without the hassle of research.

Great pubs, scenic dog walks, outstanding food and drink, charming tea rooms, historic houses, and dog-friendly beaches: The Bucket List offers something for everyone.

Stay for longer
A three-night weekend is excellent value, and many guests tell us they wish they had stayed longer. We always recommend extending your stay to fully enjoy the area. A relaxed Sunday evening at your Barn or Barge lets you make the most of your getaway.

Every month, we introduce a new three-night itinerary, removing the need for planning. Research shows many people value holidays more than a pay rise; if you’re too busy or just don’t want to plan, we’ve done the work for you.

While we offer two-night weekends, longer stays provide better value. If you’re visiting for a four-night midweek break, you can mix and match itineraries or take a day to relax at your accommodation.

Here is your latest Bucket List itinerary; enjoy discovering Suffolk.

Framlingham Castle

DAY ONE: Framlingham, Helmingham, and Easton

Framlingham Castle
Begin with a walk around the famous Framlingham Castle. The interactive exhibits and wall walk make it a great family-friendly start to the day. Take in the sweeping views from the castle walls and learn about its rich history.

Helmingham Hall Gardens
Visit the stunning Helmingham Hall Gardens, a beautiful historic estate with moated gardens, seasonal blooms, and roaming deer. The picturesque setting is perfect for a relaxing stroll and offers a peaceful alternative to busier attractions.

Easton Farm Park
Head to Easton Farm Park for the afternoon. It’s ideal for families with children, offering animal encounters, outdoor play areas, and beautiful countryside walks. Visitors praise its warm, welcoming staff and interactive farm activities. To be fair, it’s a cool place just for big kids too!

DAY TWO: Felixstowe and Trimley Marshes Nature Reserve

Felixstowe beach, Suffolk

Felixstowe Ferry
Start your day with a peaceful walk at Felixstowe Ferry, where you can watch fishing boats bobbing in the harbour. The scenic riverside setting is great for photography and a relaxing morning stroll.

The Ferry Café
Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely meal, the warm and welcoming team ensures a memorable dining experience by the water. A visit to Felixstowe Ferry wouldn’t be complete without experiencing the charm and flavors of the Ferry Café!

Trimley Marshes Nature Reserve
End the day at Trimley Marshes, a tranquil birdwatching haven. The reserve’s serene walking trails provide an opportunity to spot a variety of birds and wildlife, making it perfect for a relaxed afternoon immersed in nature.

DAY THREE: Orford and Rendlesham Forest

Rendlesham Forest and its alien past!

Orford Quay and River Walk
Start your day with a refreshing walk along Orford Quay. The views over the River Ore are stunning, and you might catch sight of traditional fishing boats. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider taking a boat trip to Orford Ness, a fascinating National Trust nature reserve steeped in history.

The Pump Street Bakery
Stop for a treat at the famous Pump Street Bakery. Their pastries, sourdough bread, and award-winning hot chocolate make for the perfect mid-morning indulgence.

Lunch at The Tea Room on the Quay
This charming tearoom offers homemade cakes, light lunches, and fantastic river views. It’s a lovely spot to relax and soak in the atmosphere of Orford.

Orford Castle
Spend your afternoon exploring Orford Castle, one of England’s best-preserved keeps. Climb to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and coastline. The castle’s exhibits delve into its medieval history and connections to Henry II.

Rendlesham Forest UFO Trail
Finish your day with a walk in Rendlesham Forest. The UFO Trail is a quirky highlight, and the peaceful surroundings are ideal for unwinding. Whether you believe in the legend or not, it’s a fun and scenic way to explore the forest!
