No guesswork required on holiday…
By Carl Scott
I met some guests for the first time this week who were so expressive in thanking me for how informative and helpful our website is. The exact words used were, “I cannot begin to thank you enough for making this all so easy.”
We had a wonderful conversation about the content on our site and app and how we produce it. It got me thinking about when I’ve been away in the past and not had this advantage waiting for me…
You arrive somewhere that looked lovely online. The cottage is charming, the scenery is postcard-worthy, and you’re ready to exhale. But about ten minutes in, someone inevitably asks the question: “Where’s the nearest shop?” Or pub. Or place that sells milk, or serves a half-decent pint.

Cue the collective shrug. Then the phone-scrolling begins. Signal’s patchy. The sat nav says one thing, Google says another. There’s a chalkboard sign pointing to something called “The Stag & “Ferret but it turns out that closed in 2019. And before you know it, that calm sense of arrival? Gone. Replaced by quiet stress and a round of “who should have checked this before we left?”
It’s a small thing but it matters. Because what you really want on your first day away is to feel grounded. Orientated. That lovely calm sense that everything’s sorted and you can just ‘be’.
That’s exactly why we’ve made it impossible to be left guessing here at Woodfarm.

We’ve got more information, and more accurate information — than anyone else about this stuff. Full stop. Between our ever-growing library of blog posts (more than anybody else that we have found anywhere), our comprehensive Out & About guide, and our app ‘Suffolk in your Pocket’, which you can download before you even arrive, you won’t be scrabbling for answers. You’ll know exactly how far it is to the nearest shop, or which pubs are open this year.
We’ve made it stupidly simple because we’ve lived the alternative.
We’ve been the ones walking half a mile to a “local pub” only to find it’s now luxury flats. We’ve tried to find the shop the host said was “just around the corner” — and ended up getting back in the car, twenty minutes each way, with a warm bottle of milk and an irritable dog. It’s not funny in the moment. It’s exhausting. And avoidable. That’s why we do what we do!
We took notes. We wrote things down. We asked locals. We tested routes. And then we put all of it in one place. Well, two places if you consider we have a website and an app.
Because what guests want really, is psychological safety. The soft knowing that your needs are anticipated. That someone else has already done the legwork. That there won’t be a nasty surprise waiting at the end of the lane. Just a lovely welcome and a clear plan if you fancy a pint or need to grab toothpaste.
That’s not a luxury. That’s a minimum. And it’s what you’ll get here. Every time.
We want you to arrive and feel, instantly, that you can switch off. That nothing is unknown. That even the smallest logistics are sorted.
And if you do feel like scrolling? Scroll through our app. It’ll tell you everything you need to plan your time away. Because this is your time. We’ll make sure it feels like it.
