Blog Post 1,000 — What Does This Mean For You?
By Carl Scott
How many reasons do you need to choose Woodfarm? Here’s a thousand for you!
This is our 1000th blog post!
I honestly can’t quite put into words what this blog post means to me, But bear with me and I’ll explain what it means for you.
I started Woodfarm 16 years ago, and I’m still amazed at what we’ve built as a team. But this milestone? It blows me away.
We’ve had plenty of milestones over the years. I remember the first time we nervously put our heads above the parapet on TripAdvisor, wondering what people would say. Same with Google and Facebook. I can’t remember when we hit our 100th five-star review — we’re now approaching 1,500 — but this feels just as big.
A while ago, I started wondering how many blog posts we’d written. When I saw we were well into the 900s, I couldn’t believe it. So I started looking into how we stacked up against others in our industry. And guess what? I couldn’t find anyone — not one independent holiday business — with more than us.
I tried Google. I tried ChatGPT. I even laughed out loud when I found out we’ve written more blog posts than most tourist boards, Booking.com and TripAdvisor? Even they, according to ChatGPT, don’t have more human content than us.
Now, if someone does have more, that’s fine. Genuinely. I’m not here to claim some official title — I’d happily be second. But I’ve looked, and I haven’t found anyone yet.
So what does this actually mean?
Well, for me, the point of blogging has always been about sharing useful, honest information — not about writing for the sake of it.
Over the last 16 years, I’ve poured my energy into promoting Suffolk, and more recently Tuscany. Because yes, I run Woodfarm — but I’ve never believed we’re the main attraction of your holiday. We are just part of the puzzle.
Location and surroundings
Location and surroundings are just as important as the place you stay in. Holidays are about experiences. They’re about memories. About the places you explore, the food you eat, the walks you go on, the laughs you have. We just happen to offer somewhere amazing to stay while you do all that.
That’s why we’ve written so much. To give you ideas, inspiration, tips, and honest insights to make your stay the best it can be. From people who live here.
I’ve always run this business transparently. I’ve never set financial targets — I’ve always believed that if you focus on the customer experience, the rest follows. I’m a businessman, yes. But I’ve never thought the way to succeed is to chase the money. You succeed by looking after people.
And with 1,000 blog posts — more than anyone else I can find in our field — I think that’s what we’ve done.
I haven’t written every single one. I’ve had some brilliant help over the years.
The very talented Mr. Oliver Pearson (above) has written many of them in recent years, and I’m incredibly grateful to him for that. My dear friend Keith Sadler, who sadly is no longer with us, also contributed in the early days. And others have helped along the way too.
So what does this mean for you?
It means you’ve got access to over 1,000 detailed, honest, human-written blog posts, created to help you get the most out of your holiday.
Whether you’re after dog-friendly walks, the best pubs, local secrets, or family days out, we’ve written something for you. You’ll also notice if you have a look through our blogs that we’ve written an awful lot of content from an emotional perspective, digging into the feelings behind holidays and the need to take them. It’s all there to save you time, make your planning easier, and give you a holiday that’s genuinely memorable — not just a place to sleep.
We’ve never written for the algorithm. We’ve always written for you dear reader.
So thank you for reading, for staying, for sharing your memories, and for being part of the journey.
Here’s to many more holidays — and yes, many more blog posts.
