How to Spend a Lazy Day at Woodfarm Barns
By Carl Scott
There’s something wonderfully indulgent about letting a day drift by with absolutely nothing on the agenda. No alarms. No schedules. No Zoom calls. No school runs. No, well, you get the picture. It’s just you, your other half, your dog (of course), and a peaceful corner of Suffolk all to yourselves.
Here at Woodfarm Barns, lazy days aren’t wasted, they’re treasured. So if you’ve checked in and feel the urge to do sweet nothing (and do it well), here’s how to spend a perfect, lazy day in our little patch of paradise.
Wake Slowly
No need to rush. Let the morning light filter in through the curtains while you sip your first cuppa in bed. You might hear birdsong, the wind in the trees, or the soft snoring of your dog at your feet. That’s how mornings were meant to begin.
When you’re ready, take a slow stroll around your enclosed garden or let the dog explore while you enjoy a second cup of coffee, this time outside, in your dressing gown if you fancy. No judgement here.
Breakfast, Your Way
You’re on holiday, so whether you fancy warm pastries from the local deli, a proper Suffolk fry-up, or just buttered toast with jam and a good book, do it your way. Each of our barns has a fully equipped kitchen, so take your time. Put on a playlist. Eat outside. Or have breakfast at lunchtime, we promise we won’t tell.
Do Nothing, Properly
Now’s the time for full-on lazing. That might mean curling up on the sofa with your book, dozing in the hammock, or simply watching the clouds drift by. If the weather’s chilly, light the log burner and settle in for a film or a long overdue nap. If it’s sunny, grab a blanket and bask like a pair of sun-chasing cats.
The dog? They’re probably having the time of their life just snoozing in the sun or pottering about without a care in the world.
A Bit of Pottering
If you feel like moving a muscle, wander down to the nearby farm shop or take a gentle walk around the lanes. No need for a hike. Just stretch your legs and breathe in the fresh Suffolk air. Maybe pick up a bottle of something local or a little treat for supper. Think of it as an adventure in slow motion.
A Soak and a Sunset
If your barn has a hot tub, now’s the time. Slip in with a drink, enjoy the stillness, and let the world slow to your pace. There’s no better spot to watch the sunset and reflect on just how good lazy days really are.
Dinner and a Dog at Your Feet
End the day with a home-cooked meal, a takeaway from a nearby pub, or a cheese board you’ve grazed your way through since 3pm. Light some candles, pop open a bottle, and just be. The dog curled up beside you. The fire crackling. The sense that, right now, there’s nowhere else you’d rather be.
So go on, take the lazy day. You deserve it. And here at Woodfarm Barns, we’ve made it very easy to do nothing beautifully.
We’ve also made it easy to book accommodation on our website whenever viewing the availability of our Barns and Barges for rent.
