Where to find Suffolk’s Funniest Comedy Clubs
Anyone who has attended a comedy event will no doubt have assured you that seeing a comedian perform in a live environment is the only true way to appreciate their brilliance. Caught up in the atmosphere, there’s no doubt that a night at a comedy club provides entertainment quite like anything else. In Suffolk, we’re lucky enough to have more than a few clubs that treat audiences to some giggles throughout the year. To get you inspired, we’ve put together a few suggestions of our own favourites:
Fat Cat Comedy Club, Bury St Edmunds:
Renowned as Suffolk’s biggest comedy club, the Fat Cat brings an assortment of national and local talent to the Apex in Bury St Edmunds each month. If the venue and reputation aren’t enough to convince you to align your next stay at our Barns and Barges for rent with one of their monthly shows, perhaps the fact that such esteemed comedians like Angelos Epithemiou, Josh Widdicombe and Andrew Lawrence have been known to perform at the club.
Ipswich Comedy Club, Ipswich:
Hosted in The Hold, Ipswich’s flagship entertainment venue, the Ipswich Comedy Club regularly hosts laugh-a-minute events that take place not far from our Barns. Much the Fat Cat, this club combines performances by familiar as well as emerging talents. With a fully-licensed bar, it couldn’t be simpler to enjoy a memorable evening out on the town in Suffolk than by paying a visit to the Ipswich Comedy Club.
Contains Mild Peril Comedy Club, Ipswich:
A delightfully unique proposition, the Contains Mild Peril Comedy Club which takes place in Ipswich throughout the year provides an alternative take on the format, bringing together a diverse range of established as well as up-and-coming talent. Billed as a “monthly alternative comedy showcase”, this is one for fans of the more obscure and abstract comedy that has come to define British humour.
Suffolk Punch Comedy Club, Sudbury:
Hosted in one of the best real ale pubs in Suffolk, the Suffolk Punch Comedy club treats patrons to a night of laughs in the good name of charity. As if this wasn’t good enough, the first drink is one the house and you’ll be entertained by some of the freshest talents that Suffolk has to offer – and they’re mighty good at what they do, if we do say so ourselves.
To book your place at any of these comedy clubs and have somewhere luxuriously comfortable to return to, be sure to take a look at our Barns and Barges for rent in Suffolk. All located within a convenient distance of these venues, it couldn’t be easier to enjoy a memorable and humour-driven night out on the town during your next holiday.
