Where to find Suffolk’s best photography hotspots
Budding photographer? A bit of a travel influencer? Just fancy having a nice photograph at home that you took yourself? You’re in with more than a little bit of luck when visiting Suffolk. From coastal to rural hotspots, we’re confident that you’ll be able to get a holiday snap in Suffolk that beats the ones from just about any other destination. Yes, we’ll even include tropical destinations in this claim!
To provide some signposts to point you in the right direction for that picture-perfect moment, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite places to get out photographing when staying at our Barns and Barges for rent in Suffolk.
Constable Country:
Where better to photograph than somewhere that inspired some of the finest portraits ever produced? Colloquially and affectionately known as “Constable Country”, the area around Flatford Mill is replete with rural landscapes that all but call out to be photographed. If you’re up to the challenge of competing with the work of John Constable, simply grab your camera and get out there.
Southwold Lighthouse:
There’s an abundance of reasons why visiting Southwold is a good idea when taking a holiday in Suffolk. It is, after all, home to a fantastic brewery and seafront that come highly recommended from anyone who has spent any time there. The lighthouse, however, is a fantastic fixture for photographing. Easily accessed from the street, you can find many angles that drastically shift the impression made by this grand lighthouse. It’s a great spot for fish and chips, too!
Pin Mill, River Orwell:
The perfect spot for a dramatic shot, Pin Mill on the River Orwell is scattered with a variety of boat wrecks that set the scene for something suitably moody. Particularly impressive at high tide, this location understandably attracts more than a few budding photographers throughout the year. With a nice pub nearby, it’s also easy enough to get yourself some post-photography refreshments when visiting Pin Mill.
Felixstowe Sea Defences, Felixstowe:
Home to quite possibly the most striking sea defences to be found along Britain’s shores, the embattlements which line the coast of Felixstowe are another dramatic backdrop for a photoshoot in Suffolk. Jutting out with more than a little theatre, these fixtures look particularly eye-catching in black and white.
If any of these sites have got you itching to pick up your camera, why not take a look at the current availability of our Barns and Barges for rent in Suffolk? We might be slightly biassed, but we think our accommodation makes for the best kind of base for photographers to return to after a day out shooting.
