What to pack for your dog’s holiday
We have done everything we can think of to ensure your Dogs will want for nothing when they stay with Woodfarm Barns & Barges. Here’s a handy checklist though to ensure that you have their welfare, health and safety covered on your journey, and for the duration of your stay.
Unfamiliar surroundings might be simultaneously exciting, as well as being distressing too. So for the journey why not make sure you have something familiar from home, which will smell recognisable to them?
- Blankets, bedding and toys will do this nicely.
- There are also spray products on the market that will aid their journey.
- Food and drink for the journey
We do ask that dogs aren’t left alone in the properties, as the unfamiliar setting can be really unsettling fo them. Bear this in mind when you’re out and about as well.
If you’re heading to us in the summer, or you are taking them aboard to Woodfarm Tuscany, then do take precautions to prevent sunstroke, sunburn, and the associated issues with parasites.
As we have said, we have a comprehensive inventory of accessories to make your travelling lighter and less stressful, but make sure you go through this list and check with us if you would like to ensure that we have any of the items available for you.
Whether we provide them or not, here are your must-haves. Some of them will seem obvious, but it’s easy to overlook the glaringly simple things. We do have most of these items for you, but do double check with us if you’re not sure…
Treats
Plenty of these especially for the journey if they’re needed to calm down anxious travellers, as well as setting tails wagging once you arrive.
Leads and Collars
You’d be amazed at how many times leads can get lost, and please make sure your dog’s collar has your contact details on it.
Bedding
Absolutely essential if your dog needs that familiar scent of home. This is their comfort blanket.
Harness or seat belt
Particularly if you’re travelling far, make sure the dogs are well secured in the car.
Food
If you can, pack enough food for the whole stay. We do have a great partner who stocks a huge range of raw and wet food, and they offer a delivery service. Have a look at Doodledales website for more information.
Bowls
We have this covered, but maybe the familiarity of home would be good too.
Poop Bags
Do bring plenty as they may have tummy troubles that could affect the amount you’ll need. We have them here anyway in Woodfarm branded dispensers.
Travel drinks and bowls
For food or drink, the silicone collapsible bowls are great, and there are loads of travel water bottles on the market too.
Towels
We have a stock of them for you, but do make sure you bring them too. Again, that scent of home could be really helpful.
First aid kit
It’s wise to keep one in the car for the dog anyway.
Medication
Don’t forget to pack their medicines or regular supplements.
Paperwork
Make sure you have your own vet details handy, as well as pet insurance policy information. We have a list of local vets to the Barns and Barges. Please ensure you have a clear, recent photo of your dog on your phone, or printed out, just in case they wander off.
Toys
Do make sure you don’t leave home without their favourites. And most importantly, don’t leave them at Woodfarm!
