Do you have to book our Doggy Meadow?
By Carl Scott
One of the most common questions we receive about our dog-walking Meadow at Woodfarm Barns is whether or not you need to book time in it. In this latest instalment of our ‘You Ask, We Answer’ series, we take you on a tour of the Meadow, explaining how it works and showing you the fantastic space where your four-legged friends can run free.
Our dog-walking Meadow is a spacious, fully enclosed area where dogs can play, socialise, and explore safely. It even includes a special section for less agile or more nervous dogs who might prefer a quieter environment. Watch the video below for all the details, and don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more helpful content about Woodfarm Barns & Barges.

Here… Get off my land! Oh, sorry, no, that’s a different video.
One of the questions we often get asked is about our dog-walking Meadow. This is not our dog-walking Meadow behind me—I’m leaning on the gate looking into the dog-walking Meadow, and you are currently inside it! I will show you around, and we have a load of videos on the Meadow itself anyway. But one of the questions we often get asked is whether or not you have to book. Do you have to book space and time in here? And the answer is simply—no, you do not.
We have a huge 2-acre Meadow, which I’m going to show you in just a second, and then we have a smaller Meadow inside that for less agile, elderly, or perhaps nervous dogs. I’ll show you in just a sec.
The idea with the Meadow is it’s literally across the lane from the Barns. Woodfarm HQ is there—I’m looking at it right now—and you come across, let yourself in through the five-bar gate, and make sure you close it behind you. What we’ve got is a 2-acre communal space for dogs to run around, make new friends, and go utterly bonkers. When I say make new friends, they’ll make new friends and then forget about them 10 minutes later. I guess—I don’t know, I’ve never thought like a dog!
I’m now going to show you inside the Meadow. And here we are inside the Meadow itself. As you can see, the sky is blue. The sky is always blue. We only have really nice weather here, so it never rains, it’s never grey—it’s always just really rather nice at Woodfarm.
Anyway, here’s the Meadow behind me. As I say, it’s 2 acres, completely enclosed, and you can let the dogs run around, go wild, make new friends, etc. etc. I’ll show you how high the fence is.
Okay, I know this isn’t a fence—this is the back of the gate—but the fence is the same height. It’s 1.2m all the way around. I’ll show you the fence…

Now, we have enough things for the dogs to do—like drive their own cars. I mean… play in the tyres. There’s a slalom just here, and then you’ve got tyres for them to play around with. I don’t know what that means to a dog, but it looks quite good from where I’m standing.
And although this is the doggy Meadow, we’ve also got the humans in mind. As you can see behind me, there’s half a boat. Yeah, that’s not standard human entertainment, I know, but it is a little covered seating area. So that is Boaty McBoatface! Why don’t I show it to you?
[Tyres] [Tyres] [Tyres]
Boaty McBoatface. And as you can see (well, hopefully you can see), the fencing goes all the way around there, so you’ve got plenty of room. We’ve left it mostly to just wild grass Meadow-type stuff in the middle, and then we just mow around the edges so you can walk around. But the dogs tend to come in here and generally go utterly bonkers.

And as you can see, we do have a nicely mown track all the way around the outside for you. And as if by magic, here is the smaller section with a little sign that says:
This section is for nervous or less agile dogs to exercise on their own. Please do not come in unless you are invited to.
And we have a little sign down here that says Vacant or Occupied. As you can see, it’s a smaller section—I don’t know what size it is, but it’s plenty big enough for a nervous or less agile dog to wander around undisturbed by happy, excitable puppies and just have a little wander, have a sniff, and do all the things that they like to do as well, undisturbed.
Now, I must apologise if you have any young children in the room, but I’m going to talk about… poop.
Poop bins! We have bins over here for you to put poop in. Please pick up the poop and put it in there so people don’t get it on their feet.
So there we go—that’s our doggy Meadow. I hope you have found this helpful, and I hope your dogs have enjoyed watching it as well—because I’m assuming you’ve shown it to them! If you haven’t, go back to the beginning, press play, and then just show it to them again so they can watch it.
Please subscribe to our YouTube channel and also get your dogs to comment on here and let us know what they think of the Meadow! And please subscribe to our newsletters by going to the homepage of the website, scrolling down to the bottom, and popping your details in. That way, I can let you know about any last-minute availability, cancellations, competitions—that sort of thing.
Thanks ever so much for watching—I’ll see you on the next video!
