Wine Tasting Experience with DJ Wines

DJ Wines is a small, intimate winery set in an idyllic rural location overlooking the historic village church at Monk Soham. Here you will find Derek Jones making delicious hand-crafted wines and liqueurs from local fruits. Edged by an avenue of cherry trees the building is only about the size of a tennis court, but he produces 10,000 bottles per year!

Being a winery only, no rows of vine will be found here as all fruit is bought in, mostly from local growers. He will take you step by step through the process of making his delicious range of seven wines, seven liqueurs and Monks Mead. He uses a combination of traditional and modern techniques, many of which a home brewer will recognise, but on a much larger scale. The small on-site laboratory helps Derek control quality. During the visit, he will also share some of the more humorous moments and the many trials and tribulations of setting up what many people claim is a dream business.

Tasting Experience – A nominal charge will be made of 35p per sample of product, or 6 for £2 or why not try all 15 products for just £5.00? They have seven wines, seven liqueurs and their own Monks Mead. This approach is flexible, allowing you to try as many or as few as you like. Samples provided are 30ml.

Premium Tasting Experience – Why not accompany your tasting with a selection of local cheeses, salami and cold meats and enjoy the best that Suffolk produces? Also included in this package is a personalised experience with tutored tasting, an escorted tour of the winery and an explanation of the business. You will be offered nine samples consisting of four wines, four liqueurs and a sample of the Monks Mead. The price for this package is just £6.50 per person.

Visiting Groups – Whether you are a wine club, Church group, social club, cycling enthusiasts or a works outing, DJ Wines can offer you an afternoon visit or evening out at the winery. Catering for parties ranging from 6 to 15 people at a time, Derek will give your group a tour of the winery plus either the Tasting Experience at £3.50 per head or the Premium Tasting Experience at £6.50 per head.

Voucher – On arrival each visitor will be given a voucher which, if redeemed at the end of the visit, will entitle the purchaser to a £2.50 reduction on orders of £25 and above. This voucher must be used at the time of the visit.

Disabled facilities – Accessible by wheelchair with disabled toilet facilities in an adjacent building.

Drink Aware Guidance – As the winery is in a rural location your party is likely to arrive by car. It is strongly recommended that there is a designated driver. As means of compensation, a free large glass of local fruit juice will be offered to this person.

Restrictions – Under 18’s, free admission when accompanied by a paying adult but cannot be served or sold alcohol. Soft drinks are available.
