Why the Right Kind of Break Feels Effortless
By Carl Scott
When a Holiday Feels Like More Work. We’ve all been there, haven’t we?
You pack everything up, organise the dog stuff, sort the route, try to remember where you left the leads, the treats, the towels… and by the time you’ve actually made it to the so-called “relaxing break,” you’re already knackered.
We’ve heard this loads from our guests over the years. That sense of finally getting away, only to realise the whole thing feels like a military operation. You come back more worn out than when you left.
And here’s the thing – if you’re the sort of person who puts everyone else first, who sorts everything out and makes it all run smoothly – then you’ll get it. Because what you’re really after isn’t a fancy hot tub or a five-star spa. What you’re after is stillness. Breathing space. A chance to do nothing, without guilt.
But too many breaks feel like more admin in a different postcode. You’re managing schedules, sorting the dog, adjusting to someone else’s rules – and it’s just… exhausting.
That’s why a proper break, one that actually works, isn’t about bells and whistles. It’s about walking into a place that gets it. Somewhere you and the dog both feel at ease straight away. Where you don’t have to explain or ask or chase anything.
And if you’re a dog lover – and let’s face it, most of our guests are – then it goes deeper. You don’t want a place that just allows dogs. You want one that understands that your dog is part of the family. No awkward rules. No side-eye for letting them on the bed. Just space to breathe. For all of you.
We call those breaks dogtastic. Our guests call them a breath of fresh air. Literally and emotionally.
So, if you’ve ever come back from a holiday thinking, “Well, that was harder than just staying home,” maybe it’s not you. Maybe you’ve just not had the right kind of break yet.
And that’s worth thinking about, isn’t it?
