Why spring is the perfect time for a couple’s retreat in Suffolk

By

Editor’s note: though it may be tricky to believe that we’re going to have a spring this year, we’re confident that this article will perform the same kind of magic as a raindance and usher in a Suffolk full of blooming flowers and beautiful weather.

Bringing bright skies and longer evenings, spring presents the perfect opportunity to experience Suffolk in a unique light. Whether it’s endless walks in the countryside or lost afternoons spent venturing through its towns and villages, we’re firm believers that now is a fantastic time to stay at one of our Barns or Barges for rent in Suffolk.

In addition to walks against a backdrop of blooming wildflowers, spring allows our visitors to spend their days comfortably enjoying the attractions of surrounding towns, whilst the nights are drawn out enough to allow for some fantastic dining at one of our brilliant country pubs. You could, for example, spend a long and lazy afternoon in Lavenham before embarking for a Michelin Star dinner in Bury St Edmunds.

Similarly, spring brings the perfect amount of warmth for visitors to enjoy bike rides around the various rural trails as well as the more adventurous offerings at Thetford Forest. Though they may be a little more breezy than the forests, the Suffolk waterways are also open for business and very much an appealing destination in springtime. In our minds, there’s nothing so refreshing as walking or boating along the coast at this time of year!

The ever-exciting events calendar also begins to warm up in spring, with various food and drinks festivals, as well as live music and theatre performances taking place in the months leading up to summer. Promising to entertain visitors to the county and provide countless opportunities to enjoy the surroundings of Suffolk, you can comfortably rely on our blogs to suggest all of the best events to check out in springtime.

In the interests of honesty, it would be remiss of us not to mention that there may be the occasional spot of rain (at what time in the year isn’t there a chance of rain in England?) in spring here in Suffolk. Thankfully, the various country houses, art galleries, music venues and restaurants provide an abundance of comfortable shelter and things to do should there be any grey days during your stay.

Ultimately, spring is when all of the popular attractions and standout reasons to visit Suffolk start to come into their element, making it a perfect time to escape for a rural retreat. To make sure that you’re doing it with comfortable and dog-friendly accommodation, be sure to take a look at the availability of our Barns and Barges for rent.
