Where to Find the Best Cafes in Suffolk

By

In addition to experiencing a range of exciting restaurants and bars when visiting our Barns and Barges for rent in Suffolk, you’ll also have the option of tucking into some smaller refreshments at a variety of equally splendid cafes. Ideal for those times when you just want to grab a quick bite to eat or a coffee when out on your travels, we’ve rounded up a selection of our favourite cafes in Suffolk to sample when staying with us for a holiday.

Honey and Harvey, Woodbridge:

It would be completely remiss of us to assemble a list of the finest cafes in Suffolk and neglect to mention a great one on our doorstep in Woodbridge. Specialists in locally sourced food and crafted coffees, Honey and Harvey make enjoying a dog friendly holiday in Suffolk even easier as they welcome four legged guests with the same enthusiasm they do two legged ones. With a menu offering everything from smashed avocado to pastrami New York style bagels, you won’t struggle to fuel up at Honey and Harvey. We can also firmly recommend the coffee which is sourced from speciality roaster Butterworth & son in nearby Bury St Edmunds.

The Alex Cafe Bar, Felixstowe:

Like so many things in Suffolk, the Alex Cafe Bar in Felixstowe is something of a unique proposition. Situated in a prime spot overlooking the sea, the cafe serves up dishes that are fantastic for brunches by day and romantic meals by night. Sharing the same local spirit as other cafes on this list, the Alex Cafe Bar selects and sources ingredients from local suppliers to ensure that everything from their poached eggs to their crunchy chicken wraps is as fresh and tasty as possible.

Applaud Coffee, Ipswich:

Keen to enjoy a scrumptious lunch? A spot of afternoon tea? Perhaps even a quiet spot to finish off a book you’ve brought along with you on holiday? Applaud Coffee provides options for all three. Nestled in the heart of Ipswich, this cafe in Suffolk makes for the perfect pit stop when out and about in the town.

The Lounge, Bury St Edmunds:

Exploring a town famously described as “a jewel in the crown of Suffolk” can be appetising and thirsty work. Undoubtedly one of the best places to take care of this is the Lounge in Bury St Edmunds. A long time favourite of locals, this independent cafe serves up a delectable selection of snacks, lunches, and treats. Located a short walk from the historic Abbey Gardens, it’s a great spot to check out when discovering everything that the town has to offer.

Lavenham Blue Vintage Tea Rooms, Lavenham:

Whilst it may technically be a tea room, the Lavenham Blue Vintage Tea Rooms are simply too good to not feature on a list of the best cafes in Suffolk. A converted Grade II listed 15th century timber framed cottage, the tea rooms offer a fantastic range of snacks and coffees – sourced from a bakery only two doors away – that finely accompany similarly fantastic views across the market square. With Glen Miller records frequently finding their way onto the gramophone, you might well think of the Lavenham Blue Vintage Tea Rooms as an opportunity to travel back in time whilst on holiday.

Whilst everywhere on this list is sure to please your taste buds, there are plenty of other incredible cafes in Suffolk that would require a series of blogs to properly shine a spotlight on. To discover them all when enjoying a holiday, be sure to take a look at our Barns and Barges for rent in Suffolk.
