Planning your Suffolk break Jimmy's Farm

Planning your perfect Suffolk break: The Bucket List #5

By

Planning a break in Suffolk should be effortless; that’s why we created The Bucket List. This free service provides curated itineraries, so you can unwind without the stress of planning.

For years, we have gathered the best ideas to make your Woodfarm stay unforgettable. Now, we have streamlined everything into easy-to-follow plans: because you deserve the best experience.

We have extensive guides covering Suffolk (and Tuscany), but The Bucket List packages everything into perfectly crafted day-out itineraries. Each plan highlights the best of Suffolk, bringing together must-visit places. We know the area inside and out; now you can explore without the hassle of research.

Great pubs, scenic dog walks, outstanding food and drink, charming tea rooms, historic houses, and dog-friendly beaches: The Bucket List offers something for everyone.

Stay for longer
3 night breaks are excellent value, and many guests tell us they wish they had stayed longer. We always recommend extending your stay to fully enjoy the area. A relaxed Sunday evening at your Barn or Barge lets you make the most of your getaway.

Every month, we introduce a new three-night itinerary, removing the need for planning. Research shows many people value holidays more than a pay rise; if you’re too busy or just don’t want to plan, we’ve done the work for you.

While we offer two-night weekends, longer stays provide better value. If you’re visiting for a four-night midweek break, you can mix and match itineraries or take a day to relax at your accommodation.

Without further ado, here’s your fifth Three Day Bucket List.

Day 1: Kersey, Hollow Trees Farm & Corn Craft Gift Shop

A heartwarming journey through Suffolk’s countryside charm.

  • Kersey: Begin your day in one of Suffolk’s most photogenic villages. Meander through the cobbled lanes, admire the medieval timber-framed cottages, and snap a photo at the famous ford. St. Mary’s Church offers panoramic views and peaceful vibes. Don’t tell anyone, but there’s a pub too! You might want to pop in to The Kersey Bell.

  • Hollow Trees Farm: Head to this working farm near Semer. Wander the fun and interactive Farm Trail – spotting pigs, goats, alpacas, and enjoying a little woodland adventure.

  • Lunch at Hollow Trees Café: Enjoy comforting, farm-fresh meals with hearty Suffolk flavours – think pulled pork baps, fresh salads, and indulgent desserts like crumble and custard.

  • Corn Craft Gift Shop & Tearoom, Monks Eleigh: Wind down the day with a gentle browse through beautifully curated gifts and country-style homeware. Treat yourself to tea and cake at the tearoom – a cosy way to reflect on your countryside day.

Day 2: Beccles, Bungay & Halesworth

A mix of riverside leisure, medieval ruins, and local arts.

  • Beccles Quay: Start the day beside the River Waveney. Enjoy the calm beauty of the quay or get active with paddleboarding or boat hire. The riverside here is a peaceful retreat with a hint of adventure.

  • Bungay Castle: Wander the atmospheric ruins of this Norman castle. A hidden gem, it offers a quiet space to reflect and imagine centuries past.

  • Earsham Street Deli: In Bungay. A foodie gem, offering artisan cheeses, fine wines, and local produce in a warm, welcoming space. Known for its quality selection and friendly service, it’s the perfect stop for picnic treats or gourmet gifts..

  • The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth: Spend your afternoon immersed in creativity. Whether you catch an art exhibition, a live performance, or simply browse the building’s cultural nooks, this spot never fails to inspire.

Day 3: Nacton Foreshore Walk, The Ship Inn & Jimmy’s Farm

A refreshing mix of coast, countryside, great food, and family fun.

  • Nacton Shores: Start with a breath of fresh air along the peaceful estuary of the River Orwell. The views here are stunning – saltmarsh, shingle beach, and big Suffolk skies. It’s ideal for quiet reflection or a peaceful morning walk.

  • Foreshore Walk to Levington: Take a scenic walk along the Orwell foreshore. This trail winds through tidal creeks, past woodlands and farmland, and brings you to the welcoming village of Levington.

  • Lunch at The Ship Inn, Levington: A classic Suffolk pub with riverside views and locally inspired dishes. Enjoy a relaxed lunch – perhaps Suffolk ham, fresh fish, or seasonal specials – alongside a pint or a soft drink in the garden (weather permitting!).

  • Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park: Spend the rest of your day at this beloved local attraction. Explore the wildlife park with meerkats, lemurs, and wallabies, visit the butterfly house, or stroll the gardens and nature trails. The farm shop and restaurant are also well worth a visit.
