Can we take your Barges out and do they move about?

“Can we take your Barges out, and do they move about?”

This blog post introduces you to a video that I shot to answer the questions “Can we take your Barges out, and do they move about?”. It’s part of our series of ‘You Ask, We Answer’ videos and blogs that cover loads of our FAQ’s, or Frequently Asked Questions, but with a (we hope) a really helpful deeper dive.

At Woodfarm Barns & Barges, we understand that planning the perfect getaway involves many questions and uncertainties. To help you navigate through these and to ensure you have the best experience possible, we’ve launched our ‘You Ask, We Answer’ initiative. This approach isn’t just about promoting our Barns, Cottages and Barges; it’s about providing valuable information, solutions, and peace of mind to our prospective guests.

Anyway, this is the video, and the transcript is below it if you wish to go back over anything.

This is what I said…

Exploring the Unique Experience of Our Holiday Barges in Suffolk

Introduction

Hello, it’s Carl, and welcome aboard Onderneming, our spacious Barge located at Snape Maltings on the River Alde. In this blog post, I aim to address two of the most frequently asked questions about our Holiday Barges. One is whether you can take the Barges out, and the other is if there’s a risk of getting seasick.

Can You Take the Barges Out?

To answer the first question: no, you cannot take the Barges out. Both Onderneming and our other Barge, Twee Gebroeders in Woodbridge, require very experienced and capable skippers.

Think of our Barges as floating Holiday Cottages rather than boats for cruising. Onderneming, for instance, weighs 120 tons and is nearly 100 feet long. Similarly, Twee Gebroeders, while smaller at 34 tons and 64 feet long, still requires an experienced skipper. So, while you won’t be taking the Barges out for a sail, you’ll enjoy a unique and quirky accommodation experience in a fantastic location.

Will You Get Seasick?

Now, regarding seasickness, the answer is no. Both Barges are in relatively sheltered positions and are securely moored. Their significant weight also means they don’t bob about. So, if you’re concerned about seasickness, rest assured that you’ll have a stable and comfortable stay.
