Can we Fish from your Barges?

Can we Fish from your Barges?

By

This is part of our You Ask, We Answer series, where we dive into the questions you’re most curious about when planning a stay with Woodfarm Barns & Barges. If you’ve ever wondered whether you can fish directly from the deck of our stunning Dutch barges, you’re in for a treat!

In this post, we’ll cover everything you need to know about fishing from our barges, from the serene Suffolk rivers where our barges are moored, to the types of fish you might catch, any permits required, and how to enjoy this peaceful pastime responsibly. Whether you’re an avid angler or just looking for a tranquil way to connect with nature, we’ve got you covered!

Here’s the video:

This is what I said:

Can we go fishing from your barges?

Yes, you absolutely can! That was a pretty short answer, wasn’t it? Anyway, here’s a bit more detail for you.

Our barge Twee Gebroeders is in Woodbridge, right by the Tide Mill on the quayside, and Onderneming is over at Snape Maltings, also on the quayside. Both locations are tidal, so you’ll need water to fish – you can’t really fish when the tide’s out. Fish need water to do their fishy things, after all. If you’re watching this, you probably know more about fishing than I do!

Now, let’s get back to it. I’ve seen plenty of fish swimming around both of the barges, so they’re definitely there! In the summer, or even in the winter if you’re a dedicated angler, you can sit right on the barge, fishing rod in hand, with a beer or any other beverage you fancy (the fish won’t mind).

All you need to bring is your rod, some bait, and whatever else you like to use when fishing. We’ll provide the fish – though we can’t guarantee when they’ll show up! I’m not sure what kind of fish you’ll catch, but I’m sure you know where to look online to figure that out.

Thanks so much for watching, and don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more updates. Leave a comment to tell me about your fishing adventures – or just to share some fish tips! Also, sign up for our newsletter on our website (scroll to the bottom of the homepage) to hear about competitions, last-minute availability, cancellations, and more. Probably not too much fish content, but it’s still worth doing.

Thanks again, and see you soon!
