Are Staycations Here to Stay?

It would be no exaggeration to say that the pandemic had us doing things we’d never done before. We all started to say “I think you’re on mute” quite a bit, we all bumped elbows when meeting one another, and we all gathered around the television each month to find out how many walks we could take before becoming criminals.
Whilst it’s safe to say that we’re all pleased to see the back of these things, there are some changes that will most definitely stick around. Staycations, for example, seem to remain a popular choice for British tourists despite international travel opening back up.
Indeed, the latest data from Google shows that searches for “staycations” in the United Kingdom are currently up 2100% when compared with the average number of searches in the years prior to 2019. Researchers from Deloitte also anticipate that 41% of vacationers will plan a trip closer to home in Britain in 2022. Altogether, this rise in popularity has led to forecasts of spending on domestic tourism growing by an incredible 80% by 2029.
Interestingly, the data from Deloitte also revealed that 24% of staycationers in Britain will seek out countryside or villages when shopping for a holiday.
