Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival

It’s that time of the year again and now, for the 10th time! It’s the fabulous Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival! Just half an hour from our luxury holiday cottages in Suffolk, this is an annual mecca for foodies everywhere.
Set in the picturesque Snape Maltings on the beautiful River Alde (so good we named one of our luxury holiday cottages after it!) it’s just a hop, skip and a jump from the stunning heritage coast and is bordered by reed-covered marshlands, abundant with wildlife, great for a stroll to walk off all the calories you just consumed at the festival!
You’ll find in excess of 90 Suffolk food and drink producers selling everything from local beers & spirits (headed up by the famous Adnams), cider (including the obligatory Aspalls) organic vegetables, artisan breads, deli goodies, cheeses and a plethora of superb Suffolk street food.
Not only do you have a whole host of wonderful Suffolk produce but there are also two cooking demo stages, with loads of brilliant local chefs as well as visiting geniuses. There will be chefs from Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen and I can personally vouch for those guys!
The whole festival has a great family vibe to it and under 12’s are free, with lots of workshops and activities to keep em occupied
There were some great new features added last year such as a pop up bakery and about a dozen new start up businesses showcasing their wares
The whole thing takes place between 26th September and 11th October, with tons of fringe events too so you should be able to fit something into your diary over that two week period and treat yourself to some proper Suffolk treats
The East of England Coop are heavily involved with their own stage, featuring a battle of the chefs. I assume it’s a cook off, rather than a knife fight but you’ll have to go and find out for yourselves!
