Best cafes in Suffolk with outdoor seating

Whilst every town has a café, we have selected 5 of our favourites with outdoor seating, giving you an experience perfect for summer. So, if you are out and about exploring Suffolk, and need something whilst on the go, why not stop at some of Suffolk’s best cafes with outdoor seating?

Deben Café Bar – Melton, nr Woodbridge

HMS Vale, built in the 1970s in Norway, was a part of the Swedish Navy Fleet and was a fast missile attack ship. The first decommissioning it saw was in 1995 and in 2003 was the Norwich Sea Cadets base, with it being decommissioned in 2018, where it was taken by Melton Boatyard, with it then becoming the Deben Café Bar. Now, you can enjoy views of the River Deben whilst enjoying their scrumptious food, whether it be a delicious afternoon tea, with freshly baked scone, or a more filling English breakfast. So, if you’re out and about in Woodbridge, or taking a trip around Sutton Hoo, just around the corner, or enjoying a scenic, picturesque walk down the River Deben, make sure to stop off at this converted navy boat and enjoy a cream tea with a view. P.S – if you’re staying at our Woodfarm Barge, you’re not far at all, so go on, treat yourself.

No.5 Angel Hill – Bury St Edmunds

In the heart of the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds, enjoy a coffee with a view; soak up the summer sun with a view over Angel Hill looking out towards the Abbeygate and St Edmundsbury Cathedral – the only cathedral in Suffolk. Enjoy the classic brunch options, and sweet treats, as well as amazing coffee, whilst enjoying the historic view that awaits in front of you.

View Point Café – Felixstowe

For another café with a view, why not stop at View Point Café, on the Landguard Peninsula, just at the tip of Felixstowe. Next to the docks, the location of this cafe makes it a perfect place for ship-spotting and to soak up the views across the estuary, where you will spot Harwich. Enjoy the typical British beach cuisine of fish and chips. Alternatively, there are always the typical brunch options from bacon buns to soups. To top it off, head to the ViewPoint Kiosk to enjoy a cheeky ice cream (or two).

The Grazing Sheep – Ipswich

The modern architecture that came along with the revamped Ipswich Waterfront contains a café with a view – The Grazing Sheep. Sit outside and enjoy the sun rays whilst overlooking the waterfront, and enjoy what this café has to offer, from great coffee, breakfast and brunches, as well as afternoon tea if you book in advance. If you want a café with great coffee, great food and a great view, The Grazing Sheep can tick all those boxes for you.

Earsham Street Café – Bungay

What’s not to love about fine food, fine coffee and a lovely café garden to enjoy it all in. So, after you have taken in all of the historic market town of Bungay, such as the ruins of Bungay Castle and the independent shops that line the streets of Bungay, take a break in this café, dating back to the 17th century. And, if a bottle of beer or bubbly takes your fancy as well, don’t worry, as they are on the menu as well. What’s more, your four-legged friends are most welcome in the covered courtyard garden.

Adnams Café – Southwold

Southwold – home to Adnams Brewery, and Adnams Café – where coffee and beer meet. Enjoy your classic breakfast options, as well as brunch, cakes, tea, coffee and light bites, all to enjoy with the option of soaking up the sun in the outdoor seating area. Whilst you’re in Southwold, why not explore more of its heritage with Adnams and explore the store attached with the café, where they stock Adnams finest beers, wines and spirits, or go on a brewery tour. With so much to do in Southwold, with the exploration of the heritage of Adnams, a stop at their café is a must.

Cafes are a perfect place to stop in whilst on the go, whether it be pre, mid or post exploration, so, if you are out and about in Suffolk, make sure you soak up the summer sun with a good cup of coffee at some of the best cafes in Suffolk.
