A Guide to Suffolk’s Best Green Spaces
If you’re joining us for a holiday in Suffolk, and especially if you’re joining us for a dog friendly holiday in Suffolk, it’s all but essential that you know about the best green spaces to enjoy during your stay. As a county resplendent with rolling hills, lush meadows and parkland, we’ve rounded up a selection of them which are available to enjoy when staying at one of our Barns or Barges for rent in Suffolk.
Rendlesham Forest
No, we’re not suggesting you visit Rendlesham Forest because it has an exciting reputation for being a place once visited by aliens. Ok, perhaps there is part of us suggesting you visit an iconic UFO hotspot, but there’s also a rather large part of us suggesting you take a wander here due to its exceptional natural surroundings and dog-friendly walking trails. With the option to walk your dog without the need for a lead, there’s an extensive network of routes which enable you to soak up the forest and tranquility on offer. There are even designated picnic areas and a visitor centre to ensure that you have everything you need to have a great day out in Suffolk.
Southwold Common
Just as phenomenal as its countryside, the coast of Suffolk is equally deserving of being admired. With a vast expanse of heathland and marshes which stretch along its waters, Southwold Common is unbeatable when it comes to a dog-friendly destination by the sea. Another destination which doesn’t require dogs to be attached to their leads, this is a great place for your best friend to stretch their four legs. Offering unobstructed views of the coast and delightful routes across the beach, the common is also close to the charming town of Southwold. In other words, you’re not far from a range of exciting shops as well as one of the best breweries you’re likely to find in Suffolk!
Dunwich Heath and Beach
Another Suffolk coastal hotspot with a healthy amount of green space, Dunwich Heath and Beach offers visitors the opportunity to experience one of the most unspoiled landscapes to be found in the county. Boasting wildflower meadows and dunes, the unique combination of features make this dog-friendly destination well worth seeking out when considering where to stroll in Suffolk. Whilst dogs are welcome to wander in freedom in certain parts of the heath, it’s important to keep an eye out for areas which do require them to be close at hand. An unbeatable spot for nature-lovers, it’s no small wonder that this destination is heavily photographed and prized by local Suffolkians.
To discover any or all of these fantastic green spaces in Suffolk yourself, be sure to take a look at the current availability of our Barns and Barges for rent. Providing accommodation which is every bit as impressive as the rural scenes surrounding them – even if we do say so ourselves – we’re sure that you’ll have an unforgettable holiday when staying with us.
