Storage Solutions at Casa Trebbio

Hello, it’s Carl here! In this blog post, I’m talking all about the storage solutions in the bedroom at Casa Trebbio, our lovely holiday home just outside Lucca in Tuscany.

Now, if you’re particularly observant, you may notice the lip-syncing is a bit off if you’re watching the YouTube video that accompanies this blog. That’s because I forgot to do an intro while I was in Italy, so I’m recording this voiceover from the UK. I found it amusing, but I hope you enjoy the video and post nonetheless!

Making the Most of a Small Bedroom

Casa Trebbio has a small bedroom, which meant I had to think carefully about how to maximise storage space without overpowering the room with bulky furniture. Large wardrobes were out of the question, so I opted for more compact and creative solutions.

The Cupboard Unit

On the left-hand side of the room, I found a cute little cupboard unit that I sourced and painted myself. It has drawers and cupboard space, along with a nice bit of surface space on top for those extra bits and pieces you might have with you on holiday. I added some charming little handles that I sourced online, which I think add a lovely touch to the piece.

The Walnut Hanging Space

The real focal point of the storage, though, is over on the right-hand side. I found a beautiful piece of Walnut in the UK at Clara Bowe, which is located at Laurel Farm Garden Centre, about 20 minutes from Woodfarm HQ. My friend Paddy had it lying around, so I snapped it up and decided it would make a unique storage solution for the bedroom.

After some work sanding it down and applying several coats of oil, the Walnut’s natural beauty came through. I then added hooks to the wood to create a quirky yet functional hanging space. Although it’s an unconventional alternative to a wardrobe, it fits the space perfectly and serves as a gorgeous focal point in the bedroom.

Storage That’s Perfect for a Holiday Stay

While Casa Trebbio’s bedroom may be small, the storage options are just right for a holiday stay. You won’t be bringing tons of stuff anyway, and there’s plenty of space for everything you’ll need.
