We’ve teamed up with a growing number of great local businesses to give you some ideas for things to make your stay extra special. Hopefully we’ve got all the areas covered!
We always provide our guests with a lovely breakfast basket like this, as well as bacon, butter & milk, as standard but if you really want to treat yourselves you can now order a fabulous hamper.
We have put together some lovely Suffolk hamper options exclusively for our guests. If you’d like full details of these check out the options on my separate post here so you can decide which one you’d like to have waiting for you!
The Beauty Barn – If you would like some pampering then you only have to pop round the corner to The Beauty Barn. They have put together some great ideas exclusively for our guests so take a look.
Natural Beauty Products, Handmade in Suffolk! – Tracey Starie of ‘Fizzy Bubbles’ has put together a range of packages, again exclusively for us! All hand-made in Suffolk from natural products, she has even developed our own range of Woodfarm Barns soap! So if you want some DIY pampering, these could be waiting in your cottage for you! Check the full options out here.
Beautiful Bakes – Local independent maker of lovely cakes! Beautiful cakes for every occasion. All baked fresh to order using local ingredients wherever possible. Janette Gibbons is happy to discuss your requirements directly with you. Check out her phone number and photos on her Facebook page.
Elizabeth Tunstall Flowers – a boutique, independent florist based in Stonham Parva, Suffolk, just ten minutes from here. Providing bespoke arrangements especially for Woodfarm Barns guests, ready and waiting in your cottage upon arrival. For contact details and some more photos have a look at our Blog Post on Elizabeth’s services.
Rattlesden Gliding Club – How do you fancy having a go at Gliding? If you’ve never done it before and fancy seeing our gorgeous county from the air, then why not book yourself a flight package for just £50? It’s only half an hour from here and they’ve put together a great offer exclusively for our guests. Check out the details here.
Suffolk Coast Sailing – River Orwell, Ipswich. We have a beautiful coast here with pretty little rivers and creeks to explore. Skipper Simon has got a smart modern yacht and is completely qualified and licensed to take you on a sailing experience, from just £50, even sailing four of the rivers that we have named barns after! Check our blog post for more details.
745pm – Our favourite restaurant in the area! Described as ‘Farmhouse fine dining’ it literally is just one man’s hobby. It’s very different but I have never tasted food like it! It’s only open on a Friday and Saturday night; you’ve guessed it, at 7:45pm! Check out their website and do book well in advance as it gets full!
We will be putting tons more on here but a few other recommendations around us are:
The Four Horseshoes – A great, beamy, thatched pub, serving hearty home-cooked food. Fabulous Sunday Carvery. They don’t have a website but they do have a phone! 01379 678777
The Highwayman along the A140 – A grade II listed 17th-century timber framed building that has been sympathetically extended. David & Olga took over the running of The Highwayman restaurant in Ipswich in October 2004 and warmly welcome everyone to sample the honest homecooked food, a good selection and well-kept real ales.
The Shepherd & Dog – Ten minutes away in the quiet village of Forward Green. They offer a great dining experience in relaxed and informal surroundings. At the heart of what they want to achieve is value for money and quality. Food is of the essence and they try to source as much food locally as possible.
There’s also plenty of golf and horse riding locally so please let me know if you’d like any further info on these or other things to see and do in the area. We have a plethora of tourist info in the cottages and in ‘The Shed’, not to mention over 500 DVDs, which is another fairly new development, so you won’t get bored!
