What’s on in Suffolk this Summer? 2016

Summer is a great time to explore everything Suffolk has to offer and it is definitely our busiest time. There’s something for everyone at our holiday cottages and Suffolk in general, whatever the weather but Summer itself has a real magic to it. Here’s a little taster of What’s on in Suffolk for Summer 2016.

We do try to encourage guests to book their holiday or short-break in advance as we do invariably have to say no when all the cottages are booked, especially when they see what’s on in Suffolk. I wish I could grow more sometimes!

What's on in Suffolk this Summer

Situated in the heart of rural Suffolk, our holiday cottages all have a light and airy feel to them with the doors open on a Summers day and you can usually hear the birds singing.

Picnic in Suffolk at our luxury holiday cottages

If you want to just sit back and enjoy your holiday cottage in the sunshine then we supply picnic blankets and baskets with every cottage during the Summer months so you don’t need to go anywhere if you don’t want to.

Venturing out, you have a number of recognised walks within easy reach of your holiday cottage, including a great one straight out of here to Crowfield Church next door but one, and beyond, with public footpaths across the fields from our lane.

We have a shed packed with bikes and you can see the OS map for the area on the wall here too, so you can just take a bike out and go and explore the lanes around us on a sunny afternoon.

Dog Walk along the lane from our luxury holiday cottages in Suffolk

Rambling countryside surrounds our self-catering holiday cottages in Suffolk. We are fortunate to be surrounded by lots of farmland, wild hedgerows and clear skies and Summer is a great time to explore and appreciate the simple things in life. It’s usually only when we are on holiday that we get to do that.

Further afield  you have so many lovely beaches, historic villages & towns, castles, museums and places of interest, as well as lots do with Summer activities all around Suffolk, whether it’s a romantic holiday cottage break for the two of you, or a family holiday.

There are 46 designated ‘Areas of outstanding natural beauty’ in the UK and we have two of them right on our doorstep; perfect for a Summer outing from your holiday cottage. Suffolk coast & heaths and Dedham Vale are only half an hour from our cottages.

So What’s on in Suffolk this Summer?

Here’s just a tiny selection of some of the things you can do this Summer.

What’s on in Suffolk in June?

Pig Gone Wild; What's on in Suffolk

Running from June 27th until the 2nd September is the fabulous ‘Pigs Gone Wild’.  It’s an interactive sculpture trail featuring more than 40 pigs across Ipswich and beyond. You can be able to follow the trail, collect points with their own Pigs Gone Wild app and to try to see as many of the sculptures as possible, all decorated by artists and generously sponsored by local businesses including Woodfarm Barns!. I am delighted to announce that the main prize for the whole event is a four night midweek break in Woodfarm House! Check out my other Blog Post here for full details of what we are offering. We do have breaks available during this period still so if you want to combine a Summer break with an opportunity to WIN a FREE BREAK in Woodfarm House then see our limited availability here and book yourself in.

What’s on in Suffolk in July?

15th – 17th July: One of the landmark events in the What’s on in Suffolk calendar is undoubtedly the Latitude Festival. I’ve been to it many times and it really has a great feel to it. As it says ‘on the tin’ it is more than just a music festival. There’s comedy, poetry, theatre, dance and all sorts. New Order and Squeeze are some of the well known acts on the main music stages and Al Murray, Josh Widdacombe and Russell Howard top the comedy tent. Check out Latitude Festival website here – We are already full this weekend I’m afraid

What’s on in Suffolk in August?

FolkEast; What's on in Suffolk

19th – 21st August: Folk East is well and truly on the What’s on in Suffolk map and has been for some time now. Its a wonderful array of folk music in the broadest sense of the word and a number of my friends are playing. Check out the Folk East website here for full details. At the time of writing this we have just 3 weekend breaks left during this period, from just £321 for two nights. You can see our limited availability here and book yourself in.

What’s on in Suffolk in September?

8th – 18th September: The Aldeburgh High Tide Festival is now in its 10th year and spans 10 days. The festival presents new plays, accompanied by talks, play readings, comedy, cabaret and live music as well  as lots of other stuff going on too. Check out the festival website here. At the time of writing this we have just 3 midweek breaks left during this period, from just £577 for four nights. You can see our limited availability here and book yourself in.

Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival; What's on in Suffolk

24th – 25th September: The Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival. Massively popular with our guests every year, this is a real celebration of Suffolk Food & Drink (as you’d expect!) We are blessed with some superb producers in Suffolk; many of whom I’ve written about. There are masterclasses, presentations, talks and of course, lots of scrummy food & drink to sample and take home too. Go to the festival website here. At the time of writing this we have just 2 weekend breaks left during this period, from just £281 for two nights. You can see our limited availability here and book yourself in.

And don’t forget we have our own tourist guide to Suffolk called ‘Where Do We?…’ which is packed full of ideas for places to go all year round

We have holiday cottage breaks starting from just £240 for a two night weekend in Summer 2016. You can check all our availability and prices on this website and we hope to be welcoming you here this Summer.
