6 of our Favourite Suffolk’s Spots for Sunset Views
Who doesn’t love a good evening watching the summer sunset with an ice-cold drink in their hand? (especially from one of our hot tubs). However, if you prefer to be out and about and want to enjoy a 10/10 view, we’ve got you sorted.
Felixstowe
The seaside town at the south-westerly tip of Suffolk is home to plenty of points of where you can take in the gorgeous sunsets. Whether it be looking out from the seafront on the beach, your feet dangling down onto the beach, Felixstowe has plenty to offer. As well as that, why not take a trip further up the coast at Felixstowe Ferry in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and take in the sunset over the River Deben, or further down at Languard Estuary, where you can watch the beautiful sunset colours reflected in the River Stour Estuary with the stunning backdrop of the illuminating lights of the Port of Felixstowe.
Oulton Broad
Just west of Lowestoft, the River Waveney and Oulton Dyke intersect. In this part of the Broads, you can enjoy tranquillity as the sunset over the trees as well as the sun’s orange glow reflected in the river. As well as enjoying it from the banks, you can also, through Jet Adventures, enjoy a leisurely boat trip on the River Waveney and around the Broads, watching the sunset over the marshland all around, taking in all that nature has to offer.
Lowestoft Ness Point
Ness Point takes the crown in the UK for the most easterly point in the UK, and it is also a competitor for one of the best spots for a Suffolk sunset. Whilst it is also renowned for the sunrise at the summer and winter solstice, Ness Point is also a perfect place to watch the sunset below the North Sea horizon.
Suffolk’s Stunning Harbours
And if you’re about at Ness Point, why not take a trip further down to Lowestoft Harbour, and watch the sunset as the boats bob along the water. Or, if you’re further south in the region, whilst it is a fair bit inland, the Tidemill Yacht Harbour, just outside of Woodbridge, offers a stunning sunset view, as the reflection glimmers into the River Deben.
Framlingham Castle
Ah, the famous ‘Castle on the Hill.’ Whilst the castle itself is such at sunset, you can still take in the picturesque view that is offered by a sunset dropping below the 12th Century castle, illuminating the ‘Castle on the Hill’ in a light pink. What’s more, with it being only a 25 minute drive away from Woodfarm Barns, if you’re staying with us, why not take a drive to see a picture-perfect sunset over an iconic Suffolk landmark.
River Orwell
Whilst the River Orwell only meanders for 11 miles through the heart of the county town of Ipswich out into the North Sea, it still offers many opportunities for the picture-perfect postcard opportunity along its 11 miles. Whether it be from the historic Ipswich Waterfront, looking out over the marina as the sun glimmers over the waterfront, or from Orwell Country Park, viewing the sunset over the striking Orwell Bridge, there are plenty of opportunities to catch a sunset over the river.
Sunsets can become a perfect moment, especially in our top 6 locations. So why not take the opportunity to grab a beautiful sunset whilst you’re out and about in Suffolk?
