Where to find the best live music in Suffolk
Throughout the year, Suffolk hosts a wide range of music events, from the popular Latitude Festival to the equally great Newmarket Nights, but what about the rest of the year? Where else can you experience great live music in Suffolk? Obviously our team at Woodfarm Barns knows all the best places…
The Apex Theatre – Bury St Edmunds
Situated in the centre of the vibrant Arc shopping centre in Bury St Edmunds, the Apex Theatre has a great range of acts you can see, ranging from theatre performances, with musicals and spectacular shows, to a wide range of music genres, ranging from the blues to choirs, to country and folk music, to pop and dance, and so much more. With tribute acts as well as current bands performing at the venue throughout the year, make sure you check out their website before renting one of our Barns or Barges to see what’s on when you visit us for a holiday.
Regent Theatre – Ipswich
On the outskirts of the huge town centre of Ipswich you’ll find the Regent Theatre of Ipswich where a wide variety of events are hosted, such as stand-up, information talks, musicals and of course, live music. From tribute acts to up and coming performers, the Regent Theatre is a great visit for you to find a new interest in a new genre of music, or to tune your eyes to your old-time favourites, all year round.
Theatre Royal – Bury St Edmunds
Another one for Bury St Edmunds – The Theatre Royal is a stunning theatre located on the outskirts of the town centre, which is fairly small but spectacular on the inside once you’re into the main theatre. Like the other venues featured on this list, this little theatre holds many musicals, shows and dance shows throughout the year and the live music is also covered, ranging through all the different genres of orchestral, dance, pop, rock and roll, country and folk music; a bit of everything for everyone to enjoy.
Latitude Festival – Nr Southwold
If festivals are up your street, then look no further than Suffolk’s finest – Latitude. Situated at Henham Park, just outside of the beautiful coastal town of Southwold, Latitude will run from 21st July 2022 to 24th July 2022 and is great to see your favourite acts if you’re into pop and dance (but many other genres as well – those were just the main ones) and to experience the festival life. However, you have to make sure you can secure your tickets quickly before they run out. Headliners for 2022 include Mabel, Rick Astley and Bastille.
The Marina Theatre – Lowestoft
A short stroll away from the North Sea coastline, you’ll find the amazing façade of the Marina Theatre, which has staged many West End musicals in the past, as well as comedians, plays and other events throughout their time running. If you were to visit today, you’d find the amazing range of acts and the lineup that they have for all genres, again, with your classic plays, pantos, musicals, shows, comedians and live music. With the live music ranging across so many different genres, everyone is sure to find something to suit them!
Newmarket Nights – Newmarket
When you think of Newmarket Racecourse (Rowley Mile), you may just think of horse racing. However, did you know that they have some nights throughout the summer where live music is played? Yes, the Newmarket Nights Summer Series won’t be until 2022, but it’s always a good idea to get your tickets early. The Script and a mixture of Ibiza Classic Tunes have already been confirmed to be playing next year, but there will be many more to confirm that they will have acts playing at Newmarket Nights 2022. So, make sure you check out their website, and get those tickets as soon as you can!
There are so many other places to visit as well as these ones listed here to find epic music to tune your sense of hearing into whilst staying at one of our Barns and Barges for rent in Suffolk.
