Christmas in Suffolk

What’s On In Suffolk This Christmas?

By

Christmas ads are on the telly, Christmas songs are being played in shops up and down the country, and now you’ve found yourself reading an article about the best things to do in Suffolk over Christmas.

There’s no getting away from it, Christmas is here and won’t be going away until the last mince pie is swept from the table at some point between Boxing Day and New Year.

Whilst it might be fashionable to grumble that it’s “that time of year again”, there’s plenty to be out and enjoying in (a hopefully) snowy Suffolk that even Ebenezer Scrooge himself would find it difficult to keep his frown from turning upside down.

To help navigate the various seasonal offerings, we’ve assembled a shortlist of festive activities to consider when visiting our Barns and Barges for rent this year.Of course, we would advise all guests to follow the health guidelines of each event in order to ensure they remain as safe as possible this Christmas.

Santa Comes to Snape Maltings:

The rumours are true, the big man himself does exist and will be sailing into Snape Maltings on 19th December.

Visitors to our Barges for rent are able to catch sight of the world’s most generous gentleman by arriving at Snape Maltings Quay at around 12:30PM when he will be mooring up to greet his legions of fans. You’re only a 35 minute drive from the Barns too.

In addition to this visit, there is also a range of other seasonal activities to enjoy in Snape Maltings, from wreath making workshops to Christmas farmers markets and an orchestral performance of The Snowman.

More information about Santa’s sailing excursion as well as a host of other festive themed events taking place in Snape Maltings this December can be found on the Britten Pears Arts website.

Christmas at Blackthorpe Barn Celebrates 30 Years!

The much-loved Christmas at Blackthorpe Barn event is marking its thirtieth birthday this December. For anyone visiting our own Barns around Christmas, this event provides guests with an opportunity to soak up the holiday spirit, shopping for everything from craft gifts to home grown Christmas trees.

Running right up to the 22nd December, Blackthorpe Barn is very much the home of Christmas and not something to miss when visiting Suffolk for a winter holiday.

Oh, and they also have a fantastic cafe serving up delicious meals and refreshments that you won’t want to miss out on.

A Crafty Christmas Fair

When it comes to Christmas presents, there’s a great deal to be said for those that are handcrafted.

Making the purchase of such gifts easier than ever, the inaugural Christmas Craft Fair at the Venue in Kersey Mills on November 27th will bring together some of the finest artisans in Suffolk.

All held in the name of a local charity, browsing and buying wares at this fair will ensure you pick up some truly special gifts whilst at the same time supporting local artists and charity.

A total Christmas no-brainer, really!

More details surrounding the Fair can be found at the event page on All Events.
