Tuscany: a little look around Casa Trebbio
This blog post introduces you to a video that I shot specifically for our place in Tuscany, to highlight “Tuscany: a little look around Casa Trebbio”. It’s also part of our You Ask, We Answer series, where we answer tons of FAQ’s and give you lots of information to help you get the most out of your Tuscan stay with us.
At Woodfarm Barns & Barges, we understand that planning the perfect getaway involves many questions and uncertainties. To help you navigate through these and to ensure you have the best experience possible, we’ve launched our ‘You Ask, We Answer’ initiative. This approach isn’t just about promoting our Barns, Cottages and Barges; it’s about providing valuable information, solutions, and peace of mind to our prospective guests.
Anyway, this is the video, and the transcript is below it if you wish to go back over anything.
This is what I said…
Explore Casa Trebbio in Tuscany: A Virtual Tour
Welcome to a little look around Casa Trebbio, our fully renovated holiday home nestled in the beautiful hills of Tuscany, just outside Lucca. In this post, I’ll take you through a virtual tour of our charming property. If you prefer watching instead, we’ve got a professional virtual tour on our website, along with several other videos that offer more insights into the house and the surroundings.
A Hidden Gem in the Hills of Tuscany
Casa Trebbio is perched atop a hillside in the Garfagnana Valley, about 300m feet above sea level. The stunning panoramic views are one of the reasons I fell in love with the place. From the terrace, you can see the entire valley stretching out below, with the city of Lucca in the distance. It’s a breathtaking location that truly makes this house special.
The Terrace: Al Fresco Dining with a View
One of the standout features of Casa Trebbio is the terrace. It’s the perfect spot for al fresco dining with its pizza oven, barbecue, and a solid dining table I crafted myself using old pub bases and scaffolding boards. There’s also a classic French butcher’s table for added charm. Whether you’re enjoying a meal or just lounging in the sun, the views are simply magnificent.
A Cosy and Well-Equipped Kitchen
Inside, the kitchen is spacious with plenty of worktop area, stylish terracotta tiles, and all the essentials, including a microwave, kettle, and toaster. Most of the kitchen items were sourced from England, while some of the unique furnishings, such as the French dresser, were found closer to home in Suffolk. The kitchen looks out over the terrace, offering the same spectacular views of the rolling Tuscan hills.
Dining Room with Character
The dining room is just as cosy, with air conditioning that also doubles as heating for the colder months. You’ll find a lovely table and chairs, along with an open fireplace for a warm atmosphere during winter stays. The entire house is full of quirky antiques, giving it a unique personality that reflects both my personal style and local Tuscan charm.
Relaxing in the Lounge
The lounge is another favourite spot, complete with a large leather sofa and more antique touches. One of my personal favourite items is a framed painting of the rooftops in Lucca, which I bought locally about five years ago. This room also offers the same incredible views as the rest of the house, so whether you’re relaxing with a book or just taking in the scenery, it’s a peaceful space to unwind.
The Bedroom and Bathroom: A Blend of Comfort and Style
The bedroom features a beautiful antique bed, storage and other characterful pieces, including a mirror that was once in my own bedroom. The bathroom is designed as an open wet room, complete with a bath where you can relax and gaze out at Lucca. The floor is covered in sleek slate tiles, providing a modern contrast to the rustic feel of the rest of the house.
Additional Videos and Insights
If you’re interested in learning more about the furnishings or the story behind certain pieces, check out our other videos. We’ve got a special one focused on a unique piece of walnut furniture I purchased and restored, and another dedicated to the breathtaking views from every window of the house.
