Take a healthy cottage holiday with the Suffolk Walking Festival

Last Updated on March 9, 2023

It seems like yesterday that I wrote about the 8th Suffolk Walking Festival last year and now, it’s almost that time again, which can only mean summer is coming to Suffolk soon! A growing number of our holiday cottage guests are partaking in this dose of healthy Suffolk air on their staycation with us. Supported by all the local authorities in Suffolk now, with sponsorship from Suffolk County Council’s Discover Suffolk project. So read on if you fancy mixing some great exercise into your holiday or short-break with us.

Luxury Holiday Cottages in the Rural Suffolk Countryside

The festival started in 2008 with only 30 walks and it has now grown in its 9th year to over 90 guided walks all over Suffolk throughout May.

There’s a great mix of activities and points of interest from woodland walks, foodie stops and coastal views. Other than the obvious gains to your health, this is the best way to stop and smell the flowers for once, catching the very best that Suffolk has to offer and what better way to spend your holiday?

Stop and smell the flowers in your Suffolk Holiday Cottage

Fully supported by all the local authorities in Suffolk now and teamed by walk leaders, of which a fair few are volunteers, you can be sure that it’ll be well organised and ensure that you get the very best from your walk or walks.

It’s broken down in to categories so you can choose what appeals to you; Countryside walks, Coastal walks, Town & Village walks and Childrens walks, broken down into 3 groups to appeal to walkers of all ages and abilities with 1 to 5 miles, 5 to 10 miles and 10 miles and over. There’s a small charge for adults, from £1 to £5 typically.

Our mouth-watering breakfast basket included in all our breaks

And don’t forget, all our holidays and short-breaks come with a delicious breakfast basket as standard so if you combine your stay with at least one of these walks you can justify tucking into your eggs, bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes with some hot toast and local jam made for us in the village!

To check out all the walks, dates etc, simply go to the Suffolk Walking Festival website here.

We have breaks starting from as little as £253 for two nights so check your diary, check our availability calendar and get yourself booked in for a luxuriously healthy start to Summer in Suffolk.
