Suffolk Fashion shoot at our luxury holiday cottages
I was so pleased when Emma Powell of bespoke Suffolk clothing label Thea Lily Loves asked if she could come and have a shoot for some of her amazing clothes using my luxury holiday cottages. She wanted a quintessentially Suffolk countryside feel and thought that Woodfarm House & Barns was just the place.
Suffolk photo shoot
Emma and her photographer Wendy Hodgson of WHAT Associates came along beforehand to ‘scope’ us out for suitability and they were delighted. This was just ahead of our Pop Up Restaurant event, which Emma was attending, so after the shoot she was becoming a regular!
Our holiday cottages prove to be the perfect backdrop
Thea Lily Loves is all about Emma’s love of colour, fabrics and clothes! The first thing to admit is that a) I’m a bloke and b) I usually wear dark colours so this makes me anything but an expert, however I found Emma’s work incredibly striking. What she loved about our holiday cottages as a location was the contrast of using the custard yellow of Woodfarm House as a backdrop, as well as the black weatherboarding of our barns as a complete contrast. Combine this with all the greenery we have here and the open fields surrounding us, I could see how all this could come together to create a winning recipe. All Emma needed then was a photographer with a genuine creative eye. Enter Wendy!
So one gloriously sunny Saturday morning in March 2015, the ladies arrive and their models Ruby, Annabelle and Hannah, along with more props than a Harry Potter film set and start setting up. They also had some amazing huge balloons from Suffolk Marquees to really add some extra textures.
As you see from all the photos, the clothes are very colourful and I do think that our holiday cottages made a fitting setting for that Suffolk feel Emma was after. I love working with local businesses as any reader of my blog posts will know; whether it’s Suffolk food baskets, and Suffolk drinks producers, I feel it’s vital that local businesses support each other and the day with Emma and Wendy really enhanced the way that small independent businesses can gel.
Emma does most of her business through her Facebook page so please get in touch with her if you would like to discuss her merchandise.
