Stour Barn Testimonials

Friday 28th June 2019 – Michelle and Maddie;
Thank you Carl and the team for such a great holiday.  The cottage, facilities and location are fantastic and so ideal for dogs.  The hot tub a real luxury after a day walking the dogs.

Monday 24th June 2019 – Darran and Tracey;
The cottage is lovely for a short stay with the dogs.  Lots to see and do around the area.  Recommend The Crown at Stowupland, and enjoyed Thornham Walks, with a stop off at the Deli Chilli Farm to stock up on goodies!

Friday 21st June 2019 – Hamish the dog and parents;
I had a busy time taking my two legged parents to Walberswick, Southwold, Woodbridge and Aldeburgh.  The hot tub was relaxing for them after our long walks, so I could re-charge my batteries for more adventures on the beaches and hide and seek in the meadow with my new friends.  Thank you for making me feel so welcome.

Friday 14th June 2019 – Lisa and Gavin with Ellie the dog;
Despite the damp weather we still enjoyed the hot tub.  Our dog enjoyed the meadow area and meeting other dogs.  Look forward to coming back in the near future.

Sunday 9th June 2019 – Charlie and Joe with Tommy and Aura the dogs;
Found WFB to be exactly what it promised and more.  Beautiful barn, relaxing hot tub and so many thoughtful touches like the treats for the dogs and all the generosity of the bike shed.  It is a rare treat to find somewhere so beautiful where dogs are so welcome.  Many thanks.

Can’t fault it. Very well maintained, great place to explore from. Had a great time.
Sunday 28th August 2014 – Christine and Lindsay with Alice and Logan the dogs
We have enjoyed a lovely relaxing start to our holiday. Our dogs made themselves at home straight away and really appreciated the private garden which was great for letting them out when they needed to go out. All Saints Church at Crowfield is a beautiful Wooden structure which is well worth the short walk. Dunwich Beach was lovely and Alice and logan enjoyed chasing their ball in the sea. Lavenham is full of character and we enjoyed a good lunch at the Swan which is dog friendly. Drove to Long Melford and visited the church there. Then visited Clare which has something for everyone. Thank you Carl and Alex

Friday 22nd August 2014 – Paul and Debbie with Winston the dog;
Only managed to book in for a couple of days as a last minute booking. Had a lovely day out at Dunwich and sampled fish and chips. Walks and beach was good. Information provided has been excellent but wished we had more time, looks like another visit looming in order to explore further. Facilities at the cottage were fab. Hope to see you soon.

Friday 15th August 2014 – Jaqui and Russell with Flynn the dog;
We have had a very restful and relaxing week just what we needed. Even managed to leave the rain behind! Our Barn was a delight to stay in and the breakfast basket a lovely treat! Plenty of information of places to visit – our favourites being Bury St Edmunds and Framlingham. We will be recommending you to all our friends.

Monday 11th August 2014 – Julz and Janice and Mr P the dog
Thanks to Carl, the warm welcome here at Stour Barn made myself, my friend and my elderly dog feel very welcome. The location proved to be central to explore the countryside and the coast of Suffolk. The Barn itself is well appointed, quirky and has everything we could have wanted for a relaxing and tranquil break. We don’t want to go home! Look forward to coming back in the near future.
Thanks again.

Friday 16th May 2014 – Peter and Debbie with Buddy & Teddy the dogs;
Having read through many of the other comments, there really isn’t much more than can be added. We had a lovely stay, it’s peaceful and relaxing and the owner is lovely and leaves you to it. The dogs have had a lovely time here and it’s so close to where we live and will certainly be back and no doubt will bring other members of our family. Excellent!

Monday 12th May 2014 – Ali and Craig with Thor & Phoenix the dogs;
We had such a lovely stay here. it’s such a great location, so quiet yet so much to do on our doorstep! We had a great time and all the palces we visited but Walberswick was one of our faves; such a charming little and the Anchor was so dog-friendly, they made such a fuss of our boys. The Kings Head in Woodbridge also had lovely food and were extremely dog friendly. The barn was gorgeous, it had everything we needed and more, Carl has done a fantastic job and has thought of everything you could need for a perfect break. Our dogs had a great time as did we!

Sunday 20th April 2014 – Jackie & John;

Mikes best bits – Nothing went wrong (and trust me, that’s a big plus from Mike!)
Lyns best bits – All my boys were happy, enjoyed themselves and we were relaxed
The barn was well equipped and we will return and recommend through all my dog connections! Thanks Carl x

Monday 10th March 2014 – Norman & Jo;
As per previous comments, excellent PR and communications as well as attention to detail. Excellent standard of holiday cottages, luxuriously appointed. We recommend for a good old fashioned pub meal, without the over-the-top pricing, trying out The Crown at Stowupland – very tasty. Many thanks

Sunday 2nd March 2014 – Frances & Graham;
Thank you Carl & Company for a very pleasant stay. It is always a joy to return to the peace of Suffolk in your cottages. It gives the impression of being distanced from the rest of the mad world and your particular piece of Suffolk is extra special. Fabulous place for family holidays and get-togethers. Thanks again

Sunday 23rd February 2014 – David and Anna with Bugsy the dog;
Really lovely weekend-break with the dog – We just chilled and enjoyed the romance of our surroundings. Went into Southwold for a fresh fish dinner and a stroll around the shops. Lovely! We would recommend the Crown for really good pub grub and the beach at Dunwich for raw, natural beauty. Bugsy our dog loved running in and out of the sea and even though it was Saturday we were almost the only ones there. A great base to explore Suffolk xxx

Sunday 2nd February 2014 – Kevin and Teri with Bosun the Irish Terrier;
Thank you for a wonderful welcome and the great comforts and hospitality of Stour Barn. The attention to detail with the welcome pack, loo roll, shower gel etc so often not available in self-catering cottages made life so much easier. We enjoyed it tremendously and will be back to visit the delights of Suffolk again. These barns will be out first choice of holiday cottage. Thank you again

Monday 20th January 2014 – Peter and Agatha with Santos and Lyka the dogs;
Thank you for creating such a beautifully unique escape. The dogs loved the local walks, in fact we all loved it so much we got lost:-) This was just the kind of retreat from London we were hoping to experience. A lot of thought, creativity and detail has gone into the design of this beautiful barn cottage. We will most definitely be back this summer for another break. Thank you again for the delightful hamper and fresh produce xx

Sunday 12th January 2014 – Tracey & James;
Again a perfect relaxing weekend-break in a lovely part of the country. We love Suffolk. The barn, as usual, was warm and comfortable and had all you need for a weekend away from busy normal life. A visit to Bury St Edmunds is worth it. Plenty to see and do. Thanks Carl for the Deli Hamper and breakfast goodies, they were delicious. This is our 5th visit – we try to look for somewhere else but nothing compares to these lovely barns. Best holiday cottages by far. Looking forward to coming back in a few weeks

Sunday 5th January 2014 – Graham and Rita with Marley the dog;
Reading through the previous comments I think it’s clear that we all feel the same way. A perfect cottage to come and stay! Perfect dog-friendly holiday

Friday 3rd January 2014 – Joanne and Katie with Piper the dog;
We had a brilliant time at Stour Barn. We felt very looked after and the special touches, eg the festive hamper were a real treat. There are lots of interesting places to explore in Suffolk, Walberswick being one of them. We even managed a couple of walks with the dog on the beach in Southwold, which was beautiful. I think its fair to say that bringing in 2014 was made very special by this lovely barn. This is what a holiday cottage should be! We’ll definitely be recommending it to friends and hopefully we’ll get to come back again. Thanks x

Absolutely fantastic cottage and the perfect way to spend our 13th anniversary. The barn is just wonderful; cosy, quirky, romantic and had everything we needed. Loved the attention to detail. We are going home feeling very relaxed after a short break. So much to do in the surrounding area. The Christmas fayres and markets were just lovely and the old towns very peaceful. Thank you Carl for a lovely weekend break; we will be back

Monday 11th November 2013 – Sadie and Paul;
Lovely relaxing weekend break; just what we both needed. Beautiful area and the barn was perfect in every way; the breakfast basket was a lovely thought. What a lovely place! The cottage is very nice as were all the great extra touches. We really appreciated the welcome basket and underfloor heating – especially with an 11 month old in tow! Had a very relaxing break and visited some great little places. Southwold, Sutton Hoo and Framlingham are all worth a visit. We will definitely recommend this cottage! Thank you Carl, you have been a super host!

Friday 25th October – Nick and Bridget;
From the minute you drive into the gate and get your first glimpse of the holiday cottages you know this is going to be special. And special it is. A very comfortable, quiet, romantic, relaxing place to unwind and enjoy. Will most certainly return if I can get in before all the friends I recommended Woodfarm Barns to book in! Thank you

Our first holiday away together without the children and I couldn’t have asked for more. The cottage is beautiful and listening to the waterfall at night was extremely relaxing. Sunday 6th October 2013 – Ben and Emma with Bella the dog;
We came here for a relaxing break with the dog and that is exactly what we got! We took our dog for a walk and went for a bike ride but mostly we stayed in and enjoyed the quietness of the surroundings in this beautiful cottage. This is a gorgeous place to stay and to get away from every day life. And so dog-friendly. We will definitely be visiting again and recommending to family and friends!

This was our second time here in this beautiful little holiday cottage. It was as brilliant as the first. We will be back. A great family holiday place 🙂

Sunday 29th September 2013 – Colin and Sharon with Megan and Finaud the dogs:
Well, we promised we’d be back and here we are 13 months later. Still the same warm welcome and same helpful Carl. We were struck immediately upon arrival by how different the whole place looks after another year to mature. We thought last year that it would be hard to improve on that but well done Carl, you’ve managed it. And finally yes, we will be back. Thanks again for providing the best holiday cottage. And so dog-friendly. Bonus!

Friday 13th September 2013 – Brian and Gilly:
Lovely 4 night stay is a cosy cottage. I think everyone has already said everything about it. Southwold was lovely and we had a great lunch at the White Horse in Whepstead. Friday 30th August 2013 – Mel and Tricia with Gyp & Nero the dogs:
An extremely enjoyable 4 night stay with all the facilities we could have wished for to ensure a memorable stay. Such a surprise to find this luxury in a dog-friendly holiday cottage. Southwold and Thorpeness particularly interesting and definitely to be revisited. Great places to go with the dogs. Crowfield church next door – not to be missed. A place of beauty. Gyp & Nero the dogs thoroughly enjoyed the enclosed garden and country walks; not to mention the beaches!

This is our first visit to Suffolk. We didn’t know what to expect but we were not disappointed. Stour Barn was a great cottage, we couldn’t have asked for anything nicer, just lovely! We visited some lovely places; Framlingham, Southwold, Woodbridge, Aldeburgh. We had loads of tea and cake! The locals are so friendly, we just loved it! Thank you Carl for a lovely stay!

Friday 2nd August 2013, Mike & Janet;
What can we say that hasn’t already been said? Totally great 4 days away from London. Highlights; cycling for the first time in about 20 years, laying on the beach at Walberswick, then eating at the Anchor, buying raspberries and blackcurrants in Clare, curry take-out from the Curry Inn at Needham Market, morning coffee at our little table on the cottage patio. Will definitely recommend
