What to Expect at Shingle Street
Shingle Street is known for its stunning shingle dunes and tranquil atmosphere. There are no shops, cafes, or tourist attractions – just a peaceful stretch of coast that’s perfect for those seeking solitude. The area is mostly residential, with notable landmarks like a Martello tower to the south.
The Beauty of Shingle
The beach is made up entirely of shingle, with dunes leading down to the sea. It’s an interesting spot for anyone fascinated by coastal landscapes. The shingle is abundant, stretching as far as the eye can see, creating a unique and starkly beautiful environment.
Perfect for Dog Walkers
Shingle Street is an ideal location for dog walkers, especially those with reactive dogs, as it’s often quiet with few visitors. There are no restrictions on dogs, making it a great place to let them run free. Even in September, the beach is practically empty, providing plenty of space and freedom.
Access and Nearby Attractions
To get to Shingle Street, head from Woodbridge and continue along the coastal route. It’s around 8 or 9 miles away, making it a convenient destination for a day trip. While it’s a bit of a drive from our Barns, it’s easily accessible from our Barges. It’s also close to other attractions like Orford Ness, Aldeburgh, and Snape Malting.
The Surrounding Area
Looking around, you can see the vast shingle beach and landmarks like Bullseye Manor and Felixstowe in the distance. The area is also known for wildlife, and you might even spot seals along the coast, although there were none on the day of filming.
