Fresh air fun near our Suffolk holiday cottages

For those who love the outdoors when they are on holiday or having a short break, there’s plenty to do around our holiday cottages in Suffolk. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside, perfect for walking or cycling. But if you fancy getting in the car and visiting 400 acres of stunning Suffolk countryside, Alton Water will provide you with some fabulous scenery and day access to sailing, windsurfing and paddle crafts.

For most people heading to Alton Water it’s simply an unspoilt place for a long walk with the family, or a bike ride and a picnic. There’s a vast expanse of water, with some glorious spots to take a break. The scenery is fabulous and you’ll certainly sleep well after a visit.

They have a well-regarded RYA approved training centre, the largest and most active RYA training centre in the region.

Sailing on holiday in Suffolk

Alton Water has a very active and enthusiastic sailing community for those living around the area but they offer day access from as little as £12.50 for anyone with their own craft but also hire out equipment too. Check their website for details.

Windsurfing on holiday in Suffolk

Again you can bring your own gear and use the water for just £12.50 (as at Spring 2105) but they have equipment hire too.

The Regatta Cafe at Alton Water

It’s fairly seasonal but to be honest, most people on holiday here in Suffolk, or locals visiting take a picnic. You can find times etc for the Regatta Cafe on the website.

The Great Swim near our holiday cottages

This nationwide event is taking place at Alton Water on Saturday 20th June 2015 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Trust. There are 1/2 Mile, 1 Mile, 2 Mile and 5k options if you’d like to take part. We would be happy to accommodate you of course, as well as sponsor you. Details can be seen on the Great Swim website.
