Fishing enthusiasts will find plenty of opportunities to indulge in their favourite pastime near our holiday cottages in Suffolk. Whether you are a seasoned angler or just starting out, the beautiful Suffolk countryside offers a range of fishing spots to suit all preferences. Here are some of the best fishing locations near our cottages:

I’ll cover fishing from our Barges first though. You don’t have to go anywhere! You have fish swimming past you every day! There, that’s that done.

Quiet Sports Fishery

Quiet Sports Fishery in Creeting St Peter is an excellent spot for a serene fishing experience. The fishery offers a day ticket system with prices as follows:

  • Adults (16yr+): £9 for one rod, £2 for the second rod.
  • Concessions: £7.
  • Specimen Lake: £10 for one rod, £5 for the second rod.

Opening Hours: 7 am till 30 minutes before dusk (check the board by the lake for closing time).

Stonham Barns Fishing Lakes

Stonham Barns offers a tranquil fishing experience with two lakes stocked with a variety of fish including Common Carp, Mirror Carp, F1 Carp, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Gudgeon, Skimmers, and Green Tench. The venue welcomes all ages and abilities and is perfect for family fishing trips. The facilities include a car park, toilet facilities, and a refreshment stand.

Ticket Prices:

  • Adults: £8.00 per rod, £10.00 for 2 rods.
  • Children: £5.00 for 1 rod.

Fishing Lake Rules:

  • No boilies, fixed lead, cat meat, blood worm, or floating baits.
  • Barbless hooks maximum size 12.
  • Under 15’s must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Must have an unhooking mat and an appropriate size landing net for carp.

Suffolk Water Park

Suffolk Water Park, located in Bramford, boasts six beautiful lakes on a 102-acre site. The park is a former quarry that has been transformed into a premier fishing facility catering to anglers of all levels. The park is ideal for both experienced anglers and beginners, with a variety of fish species available.

Lake Opening Hours: 7 am – 6 pm daily.

Facilities: The park includes a diner open from 8 am to 2:30 pm daily. For the most up-to-date information and catch reports, check their Facebook page. Note that there is no public access around the lakes and dogs are not permitted on site.

Hintlesham Fisheries

Hintlesham Fisheries features four lakes catering to different types of anglers. From specimen carp fishing to predator fishing for catfish, there’s something for everyone.

  • Specimen 1: Known for big carp, holds over 80 fish above 20lb, with a lake record of 35.8lb.
  • Predator Lake: Catfish up to 80lb and common carp, with a lake record carp of 29lb.
  • Specimen 2: Stocked with fish over a four-year programme, lake record of 32.8lb.
  • Match Lake: Contains Carp, Tench, Perch, Roach, Rudd, Crucians, and skimmers. Ideal for both beginners and experienced anglers, with a match record of 260lb in a 5-hour match.

These locations offer a fantastic variety of fishing experiences in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, making them perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday activity.
