Originally a grain barn, dating back some 300 years, it’s now a luxury holiday cottage in Suffolk. One of our private collection of dog-friendly holiday cottages down a leafy lane in the heart of the county.
You enter The Granary Barn through a stable door into an open lounge/ diner with a farmhouse galley kitchen, which also has a door leading to the huge enlcosed garden. In the finer weather you can open up the stable door for a lovely airy start to the day.The flooring on the ground floor is beautifully opulent natural slate The fully equipped kitchen is well laid out with ample work surface, fitted cooker with ceramic hob , belfast sink, microwave and fridge, kettle and four slice toaster.
The Granary also features a fabulous Nespresso coffee machine with coffee capsules, adding that little extra luxurious touch in your holiday cottage
The living area features an old circular painted dining table, big comfy, squishy sofa and a lovely old armchair, cosy log burning fire, TV/DVD/CD player and ipod docking station with DAB digital radio.
The Granary has exposed oak beams through and beautiful, winding, hand-made timber staircase that leads up to a the breath-taking bedroom with its triangular oak feature window wall with stunning views across the farmland opposite. The bedroom has an iron ‘bedknobs & broomsticks’ style double bed (please be aware though that it doesn’t take off!) and handmade chandeliers from a local forge. The iron wall lights throught are all made by the same forge.
There is a well organised en-suite shower room with a powerful fixed rose ‘watering can’ style shower, loo and hand basin with luxury hand soap.
Because of the enclosed garden and slate floor, we are happy to accept pets in all our barn holiday cottages. We normally accept up to three dogs. We even leave a dog treat as well as a delicious local breakfast basket for the humans!
We also have a huge fully secure two acre meadow for our four-legged guests to run around and play with each other, along with seating for the two-legged guests to chat as well! There’s a smaller section inside for nervous or older dogs to exercise on their own.
Outside you have a huge, fully enclosed private garden laid mainly to lawn, with a patio and BBQ with table and chairs for Al Fresco dining.
There is ample off road parking in front of the Granary.
All our luxuriously appointed barns vary in price according to size, position, equipment etc so represent great value, as well as having something to suit everyones taste and budget! The Granary is very definitely our premier barn because of its history and charm; if you’re looking for a truly luxurious holiday cottage in Suffolk then you’ve found it.
The other barns nestle into the mature trees adjacent to the Granary, around the pond and water feature to create a peaceful little environment to relax in and there is also lovely communal decked area overlooking the pond for when you feel sociable or just want to enjoy the sunset.
The Granary Barn is down a pretty country lane just outside the little Suffolk village of Stonham Aspal. There are lovely walks and cycling straight from the Barns and the pretty Suffolk Coast is just 30 minutes away. Bikes are also available FREE of charge!

Thank you once again for a fantastic stay. We have had a marvellous time chilling out at the barn and visiting our favourite places.
Another great stay at WFB. A fantastic cottage with everything thought of. Visited Adnams at Southwold and Ickworth House (NT) at Bury St Edmunds. The Zeera Curry Takeaway in Debenham is excellent and offer free delivery to the door! Suffolk local milk and cheese not to be missed either!
We were competition winners and what a great prize this was. The Granary is home from home with beautiful features and little touches, and cosy too. The dogs are shattered. Carl is a fab and friendly host.
Excellent stay as always. Thank you.
Lovely barn with lots of personal touches. We enjoyed our stay and will recommend
A lovely relaxing break. Had some interesting walks, encountering deer and hares on the local foothpaths. The Meadow is very handy and the dogs loved sniffing around there!
Great meals at The Dog and The Crown at Framlingham. Fantastic weather, so many walks in the sunshine with our dog. Lovely visits to Wivenhoe, Dunwich and Southwold. Shame we were only here for two nights but we will be back!
The Granary Barn is lovely and Carl and his team have thought of every luxury you need. 5 star accommodation. Best two pubs recommended are the Stowupland Crown and Grundisburgh Dog.
Wood Farm Barns not only matched up to our expectations, but far exceeded them! Fantastic, quiet, rural and relaxing. We woke up listening to the birds singing, and the dogs loved playing in the meadow. Many thanks for a perfect holiday.
What a truly delightful place. We have fallen in love with the charm and warmth of the Granary and do not want to leave! Carl, you have created from nothing the haven that folk crave. A place they can feel at home in immediately and forget about the real world we all live in…..thank you!
