Another Suffolk business at our holiday cottages
As most of our blog readers know, I am continually working with other Suffolk businesses to enhance the experience for my holiday cottage guests as much as possible.
So this blog is all about our drone shoot with Flyibot, ending up with our fabulous aerial video, giving you a birds eye view of our holiday cottages.
We work with lots of Suffolk businesses so that our guests are happy and return and recommend us, as well as attracting them in the first place. The other reason is that it actually makes my job fun too!
From a visual point of view I work with a superb photographer, responsible for most of the wonderful images you see on our website. Carl Lamb of ambientLight is Suffolk born and bred and has done a great job over the last year or so updating our images, as well as our Google 360 degree virtual tour. This photo shows the meadow barns using Carl’s telescopic tripod.
But we wanted to go higher! Enter Kevin Snell of Suffolk aerial imaging business Flyibot.
Having spent 13 years as a senior avionics engineer on military helicopters in the British Army and held a private pilot licence for 20 years, he has now combined his love of the air with his passion for photography, is now qualified to fly Remote Pilot Aircraft Systems (RPAS) and has been given permission by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to operate on a commercial basis.
Having seen examples of Kevin’s work, it was a no-brainer to get him over to our holiday cottages. He came over to show me the drones and I was like a kid in a sweet shop!
It really is true about boys and their toys and I’m no exception. I broke the world record for the amount of times a person has said “How cool is that?” in one minute!
Woodfarm House from the air
So, the day to start filming arrived early in June 2015 and Kevin set about getting the camera ready to shoot our holiday cottages.
And just to let the kid in the sweet shop get involved, Kevin showed me how to operate the camera, whilst he flew the drone.
It was fascinating watching Kevin manoeuvring the drone above my holiday cottages to get all the clips he needed to put together a short film. We shot footage across two days to make sure he got as much as possible.
This is what it looks like coming down to earth.
It was a pleasure working with Kevin and we are planning to go and do some more filming from my boat on the River Deben so we may share that with you too.
Here’s the end result in case you haven’t seen it………..
We’ve launched the video alongside a competition for a FREE HOLIDAY in one of our Suffolk cottages. If you haven’t entered then fly over to the Competition Page.
