Enjoy Aldeburgh Festival while staying at our holiday cottages in Suffolk

One of the many annual highlights in Suffolk is the Aldeburgh Festival. The 2016 festival is running between the 10th and 26th of June. If you are fortunate enough to be staying in our holiday cottages in Suffolk during that period we can strongly suggest you go and check it out. If you’re not currently staying then get yourself booked in!

Every year the beautiful seaside town of Aldeburgh is host to this wonderful event that brings some of the best music, performances and art together in an idyllic coastal setting.

The festival is “a 17 day celebration with birds, circus and pianos at its heart” along with walks, talks, films and exhibitions. There is a focus on Classical music at the festival, along with a wide variety of 30+ non-classical music events at the festivals fringe, held at The Pumphouse, and free music on the beach’s Bandstand every lunchtime.

This year the festival’s centrepiece event is the Catalogue d’Oiseaux project bringing Olivier Messiaen’s musical interpretations of birdsong to life over the course of a day. The festival’s artistic director Pierre-Laurent Aimard will perform the whole piece over four concerts set against stunning natural backdrops from sunrise to midnight.

There are also organised walks around this beautiful part of Suffolk too so be sure to check it all out and see what’s going on that you may wish to experience.

There’s a lot more detailed information about the festival on their website or you can connect with the festival on Facebook.

If you’d like to check what availability in our barns and cottages we have for that period then simply go to our Availability page. We have breaks starting from as little as £269 during the Festival.
