A Short Break or a Holiday can be a big decision. And we get it!

We Understand That Booking a Short Break or a Holiday These Days Is Sometimes a Big Decision
We get that.
I’ve recently written several articles and created a number of videos on this topic, and I’ll refer you to a few of them throughout this piece. One explains the Google 7-11-4 Rule, another discusses why guests return—and why they don’t, and I’ve also written about why location and surroundings are crucial when booking a holiday. If you need a little extra push to treat yourself, I’ve even laid out five reasons you deserve a break.
Together, these articles highlight a crucial point:
We fully understand that times are tricky right now. The cost of everything has gone up.
However, the price of a Woodfarm break has not. That’s because we are committed to maintaining value for money, as we always have. To make things even easier, we offer a £50 discount to first-time guests—simply subscribe to our newsletters to get the code. If you have trouble finding where to sign up, just ask me, and I’ll send it to you.
For returning guests, we have TOGS, our loyalty reward scheme, which provides a discount on your next stay. This is the most we can realistically do to keep things affordable while maintaining our high standards.
What Matters Most When Booking a Holiday?
We recently carried out a poll to understand what’s most important to you when booking a short break or holiday. The results were clear:
By far, the most crucial factor was location and surroundings. In fact, more than 50% of respondents said this was their top priority—more important than reviews and even value for money.
I wrote about this in more detail in this blog post, where I dive into why the setting of your holiday matters so much. Whether it’s the peaceful countryside surrounding our Barns or the unique charm of our Barges, location is something we’ve always focused on.
Fortunately, location and surroundings are something we have in abundance across all our properties.
We also firmly believe that we offer exceptional value for money in both the quality of our accommodation and our pricing. Our guest return rate is over 30%, which speaks volumes. That said, we also understand why some guests don’t return, and it’s not always for negative reasons—sometimes, they just want to explore new places. I covered this in this article, which looks at the reasons people come back to us again and again, and why others, quite simply, fancy a change.
The Google 7-11-4 Rule
One of the key insights from my article on the Google 7-11-4 Rule is that booking a short break or holiday is no longer always a snap decision.
In pre-COVID times, it wasn’t unusual for someone to find our website, call us, and book within two minutes. While this still happens occasionally—and of course, we love it when it does—it’s no longer the norm.
Today, the decision-making process takes longer. Many of our bookings come from guests who have spent days, weeks, or even months researching before deciding to stay with us. And that’s completely fine.
For some of you, this might be your first interaction with Woodfarm Barns & Barges. You might book in two days, two weeks, or even two months. That’s okay because we know that this cycle is always ongoing.
If you’re still debating whether now is the right time, you might find it helpful to read this blog. In it, I share five simple but important reasons why taking a break isn’t just a luxury—it’s something you genuinely deserve.
In Summary
We understand that booking a holiday is a big decision.
