What is it like to work at Woodfarm?
By Carl Scott
Welcome to another instalment of our You Ask, We Answer series, where we tackle the questions you’re curious about! This time, we’re pulling back the curtain on what it’s really like to work at Woodfarm. If you’ve ever wondered how the magic happens behind the scenes—or perhaps dreamt of joining our team—this one’s for you!
Transcript:
Carl: Hello, Ollie! What I really wanted to do today was get you talking about how incredible it is to work with me. I mean, in many ways, working with me must be the best thing you’ve ever done in your life—possibly the best thing you could imagine doing. What do you think?
Ollie: Well, Carl, what’s great about you is your impeccable timing. You only ever call at unsociable hours and only email on the weekends—it’s phenomenal, really. It’s as if you have a sixth sense for when I’m most relaxed and happy, and that’s exactly when you strike.
Carl: Exactly! That’s when creativity happens!
Ollie: Absolutely. And I love how you set deadlines. Some people give a comfortable two-week timeframe, but you? You believe in pushing the boundaries of time itself. You set deadlines two weeks ago! It keeps things exciting, keeps me on my toes.
Carl: I knew you’d appreciate that. I also loved that weekend when you read Ulysses by James Joyce back to me and said, “Can’t we just do one of those?”
Ollie: To be fair, your writing is… well, it’s fine. It’s not quite Shakespeare or Joyce, but, you know, it’s… fine.
Carl: High praise! I do appreciate how much you improve my work, though. There’s always more red pen on my documents than black ink by the time you’re finished.
Ollie: That’s just my way of helping you reach your full potential. And, of course, your motivational report cards have been a fantastic addition to my life.
Carl: I like you to know where you’re failing. And I thought surprising you with a performance review on your birthday was particularly thoughtful.
Ollie: Definitely memorable. Going from an E to a D was a career highlight for me.
Carl: And the trophy I got you? Did you like that?
Ollie: The inappropriate trophy that arrived on Christmas Day? That was a surprise. But then again, you did ask for a Christmas Day blog to be published every hour on the hour.
Carl: Well, that’s when people want content, Ollie!
Ollie: And nothing says “festive cheer” like a Christmas blog schedule that runs like clockwork.
Carl: Exactly! And what did I get you last year? A dictionary, wasn’t it?
Ollie: Yes, with a subtle suggestion that I might benefit from reading it. You highlighted every single word.
Carl: Well, some words are more important than others. And in this case, all of them.
Ollie: Indeed.
Carl: So, if you could sum up working with me in three words, what would they be?
Ollie: Nerve-inducing. Happiness. Happiness. Happiness-inducing.
Carl: I like that! Should we make it the company strapline?
Ollie: That would be… fitting.
