Jammy Suffolk Holiday Cottages!
As we strive to keep going the extra mile for our holiday cottage guests, I’m very excited to be tying in with yet another local business – Fruits of Suffolk – and as they are only a mile from us, I really am going the extra mile this time!
Fruits of Suffolk jams and marmalades are going to be in all our Suffolk holiday cottage breakfast baskets from now on and jars and gifts will be available to purchase here. At cost!
They are a superb cottage industry established by Jenny Gibbons 20 years ago and are now seen all over Suffolk in Co-ops, delis, tea shops, small supermarkets etc.
Fruits of Suffolk range
All of their products are made from as much locally grown fruit as possible, in the traditional way, stirred by hand in small batches, bringing out the flavour of the fruit. I can vouch for this as I have seen it being made. Here is some raspberry jam on the go the day I went to visit and let me tell you, it’s the most amazing smell!
Some fruits are not native to Suffolk, such as the oranges for the marmalade but pretty much all of their ingredients are local.
And the best bit is, there are no artificial preservatives or colourings.
Their range of over 30 Suffolk preserves is very varied and includes strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant, cherry, Victoria plum and apple, as well as orange, orange and brandy and onion marmalades, not to mention mincemeat, cranberry sauce, piccalilli and a handful of other mouth-watering recipes.
Gift baskets to remind you of your holiday in Suffolk
We have offered deli-cious hampers from the Deli at the Chilli Farm for a few years now, which always go down very well but in addition, we are now offering gift baskets from Fruits of Suffolk too. We don’t make any money on either of these; we simply see it as a way of making your Suffolk cottage holiday or short-break even more special and as so many of our guests rave about us to their family and friends, it seems to work.
Fruits of Suffolk sell us these great jam hamper gifts (I’m resisting the urge to call them ‘Jampers’ but I might!) for £10 and that’s what we sell them on at, so you can take them home with you and treat someone to a real taste of Suffolk. We are also stocking a small range of the individual jars at cost.
Your Suffolk holiday cottage breakfast just got even tastier
Hundreds of people have commented in the past on our scrumptious breakfast basket, with eggs, bacon, bread, butter, fruit, milk, mushrooms, tomatoes and jar of cookies to get your first morning off to a great start. And now, we are adding to it at no extra cost to our guests.
Richard & Nick stayed here last week and re-booked as soon as they got home. This is what they had to say about their Suffolk holiday cottage break in our 85th Five Star Tripadvisor review!

“Stayed for 5 days with our little dog. A beautiful part of the world and perfectly located for walks, cycling and exploring by car. Stayed in Stour Barn. A wonderful welcome hamper and everything you would need for a self catering holiday. We ate out lunch time and then cooked in the evening.
The barn was comfortable – very warm and cosy. Also lovely and quiet.
We had great weather and loved getting up early and walking the dog down to the beautiful church and across the fields.
We enjoyed exploring the local area and as there was still so much to see, we have booked again for end of August.
A great find and the place is a credit to Carl who has literally thought of everything when it comes to the comfort of his guests.
We are much looking forward to our return.”
