Stour Barn finer details
Outside your holiday cottage in Suffolk you have a small, fully enclosed private garden laid partly to lawn, with a fabulous ‘indoor outdoor’ room with huge luxury Hot Tub as well as a patio with BBQ and table and chairs for Al Fresco dining.
The fully equipped kitchen is well laid out with ample work surface, a fitted cooker with ceramic hob, belfast sink, microwave and fridge, kettle and four slice toaster
The main living area is spacious with a squishy, luxurious comfy sofa and lovely log burning fire, TV/DVD/CD player and iPod docking station.
It has high vaulted ceilings throughout, with huge, exposed oak beams and just oozes rustic charm. The living area leads through to a ground floor bedroom with a black iron ‘bedknobs and broomsticks’ style double bed (please note it doesn’t fly)
There is a well organised en-suite shower room with a good sized powerful fixed rose ‘watering can’ style shower, loo and hand basin with luxury hand soap
Because of the enclosed garden and oak floors we are happy to accept pets in all our luxury holiday barn cottages. We normally accept up to three dogs. We even leave a dog treat as well as a delicious local breakfast basket for the humans!
We also have a huge fully secure two acre meadow for our four-legged guests to run around and play with each other, along with seating for the two-legged guests to chat as well! There’s a smaller section inside for nervous or older dogs to exercise on their own.
Outside you have a fully enclosed private garden with a patio and BBQ with table and chairs for Al Fresco dining
There is ample off road parking.
Stour is a luxury holiday cottage in Suffolk; one of our five holiday cottage barns in the wooded meadow beside The Granary and Woodfarm House. These luxurious barns vary in price according to size, position, equipment etc so represent great value, as well as having something to suit everyones taste and budget!
The Barns nestle into the mature trees around the pond and water feature to create a peaceful little environment to relax in and there is also lovely communal decked area overlooking the pond for when you feel sociable or just want to enjoy the sunset.
The Meadow is down a pretty country lane just outside the little Suffolk village of Stonham Aspal.
There are lovely walks and cycling straight from the Barns and the pretty Suffolk Coast is just 30 minutes away. Bikes are also available FREE of charge!
Each holiday cottage in Suffolk is unique in its decor and we have a choice of ground floor and mezzanine or first floor options. They are all traditional Suffolk barns in style with black weatherboarding, oak trusses and beams and oak or slate flooring.
All our meadow barns are named after nearby Suffolk rivers. The river Stour meanders through from far inland at Sudbury, through stunning ‘Constable Country’, past Dedham, East Bergholt and Manningtree and out to the sea.

Stour Barn Reviews
We loved the Barn and Carl was a great host. Great pubs: Dog at Grundisburgh, The Swan and Thornham 4 Horseshoes. We are going home happy but exhausted – we had a great time.
Thank you for a thoroughly pleasant stay, for being accommodating and responsive to everything throughout our holiday. It’s a great set up here and we’ve really enjoyed our stay.
This is a great bolt hole in the Suffolk Countryside. We’ve ventured to the dog friendly beaches at Southwold, to Thornham Walks and Needham Lake. As there are lots more places to explore we’ll just have to return again!
What a great place. Has been brilliant to escape the madness for four nights. Thanks for the hospitality and service – we will be recommending.
A wonderful week, walking with the dogs. Spot on as always. Look forward to coming back in 2021.
Fabulous weekend, surpassing all expectations. All the added extras made this stay so special – the icing on the cake is the hot tub! So private and peaceful, we will definitely return.
Lovely break away in the middle of nowhere, so quiet and peaceful. Hot tub was amazing and weather kind. Good base for trips to the seaside.
We came to enjoy the fresh air and of course the hot tub! We’ve had a great weekend and look forward to coming again.
What a wonderful well equipped Barn. We have had such a lovely time. We loved the hot tub in the evening.
We are Woodentops and proud of it! This place is our home from home, our country retreat – away from it all and totally peaceful. It’s a magical time to remember dream of and look forward to – it’s the best place in the world! Carl and his team do a fab job and the icing on the cake is the welcome. Thank you Carl for helping us all during what has been tough times for all.
A fantastic break, with antique hunting at Woodbridge and Snape Maltings. Our dog thoroughly got spoilt at Doodledales and we loved wandering around Stonham Barns. The hot tub was a perfect way to relax at the end of our days out. A wonderful time had by us all.
Fantastic weekend, loved it here! Great location and wonderful things to do. So good we’ve booked to come back for Xmas!
We’ve had a lovely romantic break to celebrate our anniversary. Love the Barn, hot tub and the doggy shower is brilliant. Walked at Thornham and Rendlesham Forest, following the UFO trail. Finished off the mini break with a trip to Aldeburgh and Southwold for a doggy run on the beach.
A relaxing weekend with the dogs. Great day at Thornham Walks. Storm Ciara tried to put a dampener on the last day, but to no avail – we got some quiet reading time and lovely steak dinner!
Another fantastic stay at Wood Farm Barns. We recommend the Highwayman and a takeaway from Zeera Indian. Great days out we would recommend Thorpness and Aldeburgh, where we watched the seals pop out of the water.
We have had several breaks at WFB and it never fails to please us with the personal welcome, breakfast basket and jar of dog treats – not forgetting the amazing hot tub! Love, love, love Wood Farm Barns!!
Lovely relaxed break in wonderful “toasty” accommodation. The dogs appreciated the treats, a warm dog wash and 2 acre paddock to run around! So many places to visit, with many dog friendly eating places. Great meal at Westerfield Swan and The Stowupland Crown.
Lovely stay as always – dogs love the meadow and this time the muddier the better – thank goodness for the hot/cold doggy shower which is a brilliant addition. Dogs loved Doodledales at Stonham Barns, also visited the Owl Sanctury and Crowfield Church.
Lovely time! Perfect location and facilities. Here with family to celebrate 60th birthdays! Crazy golf at Stonham Barns was fun and we took the dog on several walks around the local area.
A really lovely mini break with Christmas decorations and home comforts all included. Even a most amazing treat jar for the dogs too!
A lovely relaxing week, visiting some of the surrounding towns. Thank you for the lovely breakfast hamper with some local produce and the festive feeling in the Barn.
Lovely friendly welcome with a fab selection of goodies in the welcome basket, together with evenings in the hot tub! We enjoyed taking our dog over the “to dog paddock” and the mucky pup shower station is a genius idea!
The shorter days means more time in the wonderful hot tub with lights, candles and wine! We love the mucky pup cleaning station …. Brilliant!
This is our 4th visit and we love it here. Amazing hot tub and garden room. Thanks to the Team – we will be back!
We have had such a lovely relaxing weekend, and were made to feel very welcome. Recommend the Highwayman and the Four Horseshoes – both very dog friendly, nice food and great service.
Our third stay at Wood Farm Barns. Had a wonderful weekend with our two new rescue dogs.
Everything was great, in accommodating our late booking. Love the Barn, very cute and homely. The hot tub was amazing. Thank you.
What an amazing place and a lovely relaxing way to spend our anniversary. The breakfast basket was very tasty and we loved relaxing in the hot tub.
Really enjoyed our stay here, best “hot tub” ever in all weathers! Monty loved his holiday and the meadow was an exciting adventure – woof, woof, woof!
Very cute cottage, peaceful and the hot tub was very relaxing.
Enjoyed the accommodation which felt very homely and inviting. Our dogs enjoyed the meadow.
We all enjoyed our stay and found everything so well thought out. Set in lovely grounds in beautiful countryside within easy reach of much interest.
A lovely stay – our favourite places – Walberswick beach, Dunwich Heath and Southwold “under the pier show”!
Thank you Carl and the team for such a great holiday. The cottage, facilities and location are fantastic and so ideal for dogs. The hot tub a real luxury after a day walking the dogs.
The cottage is lovely for a short stay with the dogs. Lots to see and do around the area. Recommend The Crown at Stowupland, and enjoyed Thornham Walks, with a stop off at the Deli Chilli Farm to stock up on goodies!
I had a busy time taking my two legged parents to Walberswick, Southwold, Woodbridge and Aldeburgh. The hot tub was relaxing for them after our long walks, so I could re-charge my batteries for more adventures on the beaches and hide and seek in the meadow with my new friends. Thank you for making me feel so welcome.
Despite the damp weather we still enjoyed the hot tub. Our dog enjoyed the meadow area and meeting other dogs. Look forward to coming back in the near future.
Found Wood Farm Barns to be exactly what it promised and more. Beautiful barn, relaxing hot tub and so many thoughtful touches like the treats for the dogs and all the generosity of the bike shed. It is a rare treat to find somewhere so beautiful where dogs are so welcome. Many thanks.
Our first time and I’m sure we will be back. We enjoyed the Rendlesham Forest UFO trail which was lovely and quiet and we had a lovely walk at Flatford.
Judging by the previous comments we are in the minority, not having dogs! That didn’t stop us enjoying our stay immensely and would recommend and come again.
This is our fifth visit and doesn’t disappoint. Our favourite places to visit include Framlingham, The Four Horseshoes at Eye is excellent and Sizewell Beach is wonderfully peaceful and Dunwich Beach too. Thank you to all the staff.
Loved our little barn – very cosy and everything catered for. The extra touches made all the difference……postcards and stamps!; doggie treats; yummy breakfast basket; excellent dvd selection and the meadow is a real bonus. Southwold is a beautiful and very relaxed seaside town with delicious fish and chips on the pier in the sun!
Yet another wonderful time here at Stour Barn. Our dog loved “Woof Meadow”. We had lovely visits to Needham Lake, Dunwich and the Suffolk Punch Trust – all very dog friendly.
Thanks for a perfect dog friendly holiday. Lovely location and our spaniel especially enjoyed the meadow! Recommend a walk around Hoxne and lunch at the Swan.
The weather has been great with lots of sunshine. Lots of lovely beaches nearby to explore, Southwold, Dunwich, Bawdsey and Aldeburgh. Great pub in Eastbridge, the “Eels Foot!” Have loved the hot tub too, everything you could possibly want! Our visit has been very relaxing and quiet.
