Your own private Hot Tub situated in a covered garden room is a key feature of Orwell Barn. And then you have wonderful views of the landscaped gardens from your Mezzanine Bedroom.
Your fully equipped kitchen diner overlooks the hot tub and features an antique pine plate rack and painted dresser. The lounge has huge high ceilings with oak timbers and a comfy leather sofa opposite the wood-burner.
Your downstairs shower room leads off the lounge and a hand-made wooden staircase winds up to the mezzanine.

The fully equipped kitchen is well laid out with ample work surface, a fitted cooker with ceramic hob, Belfast sink, microwave and fridge, kettle and four-slice toaster. The kitchen area leads through to a spacious living area with a comfy sofa, lovely log burning fire and smart TV.
The main room of your luxury holiday cottage has a very high vaulted ceiling with huge, exposed oak beams and a winding hand-made timber staircase that leads up to a charming mezzanine bedroom with a lovely painted double wooden sleigh bed. The view from the mezzanine provides you with a stunning vista of the landscaped gardens and waterfall.
There is a well organised luxurious shower room on the ground floor with a good-sized powerful fixed rose ‘watering can’ style shower, loo and hand basin with luxury hand soap, as well as a heated towel rail.
Dog Owners
Because of the enclosed garden and oak floors we are happy to accept pets in all our holiday barn cottages. We normally accept up to three dogs. We even leave a dog treat as well as a delicious local breakfast basket for the humans!
We also have a huge fully secure two-acre meadow for our four-legged guests to run around and play with each other, along with seating for the two-legged guests to chat as well! There’s a smaller section inside for nervous or older dogs to exercise on their own.
Hot Tub Luxury!
Outside you have a fully enclosed private garden, with a fabulous ‘indoor outdoor’ room with luxury Hot Tub, opening up onto a patio with BBQ and table and chairs for Al Fresco dining.
There is ample off-road parking.
Orwell is one of our five luxury holiday cottage barns in the wooded meadow beside The Granary, Woodfarm House and Meadow View Cottage. It is the right-hand side of the large barn next to Gipping Barn. These luxurious barns vary in price according to size, position, equipment etc so represent great value, as well as having something to suit everyone’s taste and budget! If you are looking for a holiday cottage in Suffolk with a hot tub then look no further.
The Barns nestle into the mature trees around the pond and water feature to create a peaceful little environment to relax in and there is also a lovely communal decked area overlooking the pond for when you feel sociable or just want to enjoy the sunset.
The Meadow is down a pretty country lane just outside the little Suffolk village of Stonham Aspal.
There are lovely walks and cycling straight from the Barns and the pretty Suffolk Coast is just 30 minutes away. Bikes are also available FREE of charge!
All our barns are unique in their decor and we have a choice of ground floor and mezzanine or first-floor options. They are all traditional Suffolk barns in style with black weatherboarding, oak trusses and beams and oak or slate flooring.
All our meadow barns are named after nearby Suffolk rivers. The river Orwell winds its way through from the cosmopolitan marina to the heritage coast, along a beautiful stretch of river with some wonderful walks. And yes it’s where writer Eric Arthur Blair took his pen name George Orwell from.

The River Orwell runs from the North Sea coastline, through the vibrant, county town of Ipswich, and then becomes the River Gipping. Named after such a striking geographical feature, Orwell Barn is a beautiful Barn that sleeps two with a mezzanine bedroom, oak décor throughout, and is navigated via hand-made wooden stairs. Within its fully enclosed garden, you will find the ‘indoor-outdoor’ room which houses a large and modern hot tub. Perfect for relaxing and spending time in warm water, no matter what the weather looks like, we would highly recommend Orwell Barn for anyone on the lookout for lodges with hot tubs. What’s more, Orwell Barn has Suffolk written over it – from its name to the interior and exterior styling of the Barn.
Fun Fact – Hot tubs aren’t new. Many centuries ago, hot tubs were created by using hot stones to raise the temperature of tubs to bring them to an ideal temperature for people to relax in. Of course, the ones you’ll find in our Barns for rent are a little more advanced than these, with all of their advanced controls and modern lighting!

A wonderful, relaxing stay in Orwell Barn. The best day was a visit to Aldeburgh with fish and chips on the beach in sunny weather – mild too!
We enjoyed every minute of our first visit to Wood Farm Barns. The little extras make all the difference and set WFB aside from other holiday lets. A walk to Crowfield Church and through to the airfield allowed us to see much wildlife.

A lovely weekend. The hot tub was a nice evening treat to relax after a day out exploring. We loved Alder Carr Farm, the little shops and café. Aldeburgh with its beach and Moot Hall. A lovely late lunch in the Coach and Horses in Woodbridge.
A birthday treat – we had a lovely stay, enjoying evenings in the Barn. We enjoyed a visit to Woodbridge and to Sutton Hoo.

Perfect stay in Orwell Barn – we have loved every minute. We have enjoyed the walks from the doorstep. The games, books, dog treats and the meadow were used and enjoyed. We have eaten at The Four Horseshoes where they even treated the dogs to some food, The Dog at Grundisburgh – amazing food, and the Butt & Oyster at Pin Mill.

Our first visit to Suffolk and we were not disappointed! The facilities are top notch. Minsmere is well worth a visit, stroll along the beach, across the marshland and a woodland walk to finish. The Victoria in Earl Soham was a great find with fantastic Victoria bitter.
Great walk at Thorpeness and afterwards the Dolphin pub was great too! Dedham was another great place to visit.

Fantastic week here, one of the best accommodations we’ve stayed in with our dogs. The shower station and shampoo for dogs is great and we made the most of the hot tub after so many days of walking. Food at the Highwayman was delicious and the Grundisburgh Dog. Recommend Southwold for fish and chips and Walberswick a quaint, pretty village.

Wow, our first visit to WFB was a genuine delight. Carl & the team, thank you for all the extra special touches to ensure we all felt comfortable and at ease in the midst of this crazy Covid19 pandemic. Fabulous fish and chips in Southwold followed by a paddle and for a dog friendly pub outing with amazing food, you can’t do better thank the Grundisburgh Dog.
Our first visit and it has been a delight. Our dog loved the meadow and her doggy treats and was made to feel welcome as we were. It was exactly the “chill out” weekend which we had planned. A stroll around Framlingham was finished off by sitting outside the Victoria pub watching the old cars driving past, trying to recall the names/models!
The warm weather gave us the perfect excuse to chill and relax with the pooch. We will be back soon.

Wonderful holiday with our 11 month springer spaniel. What really made this place special for us was the meadow. Our dog ran herself silly and gave us opportunities for “recall” training too! We had some great days out to Aldeburgh, Pin Mill, Thornham Walks and Woodbridge.

We had a fantastic week that has left us rested and relaxed. The dogs thoroughly enjoyed the meadow. We had some great days out, at Framlingham Castle, Helmingham Hall and Thornham Walks – all very dog friendly.
What can we say… Absolutely Fabulous. Gipping Barn exceeded our expectations. The breakfast hamper and added extras was a treat for us all. The secluded garden for our dogs was perfect and the hot tub for us was fantastic. A lovely trip to Southwold, walking up the prom passing all the colourful beach huts. We would recommend the Grundisburgh Dog, for lovely food and doggie treats too!
